Domino stop latches.

Can someone interpret this for me? It comes from the Domino manual and says

"...dowels are based on these averages. If a lateral offset of approx 0.03mm - 0.04mm occurs when two work pieces are joined together, you have the option of replacing the stop latches (2.4) fitted on delivery with correction stop latches. These latches are 0.15mm narrower and reduce the lateral clearance of the dowel holes in relation to the edge of the workpiece..."

Forgive my ignorance but I've absolutely no idea what this is actually saying. Can someone tell me (in even simpler terms) what the stop latches are really for?

Go to this page and open the Domino PDF, on page 21 is the info on "Removing and Adjusting the Edge Stop Dogs" that should answer your questions.

Thanks Brice. I'm still a bit puzzled but put that down to old age! Seems like it's a solution to a problem I'm unlikely to encounter anytime soon but one I'll keep in mind. Once again, the Festool engineers seem to have all the bases covered.

Edit: I just looked at the PDF file again. I think it was on page 11 they showed an example of the stop dogs in use.

It is not something you deal with during normal use, but is a calibration procedure during tool maintenance. The extra set of dogs are provided so you can make minor tweaks to the position if the tenon location is not perfectly centered between the dogs.
