Festool get to show off the Domino on "This Old House" even with the over the top presents of Dewalt tools everywhere. Tom is building a hand rail out of PVC and use two Dominos to join the corner.  Always great see the guys on This Old House reach for th green tools over the yellow stuff.  [big grin]

On the episode of TOH shown on 15 December 2012 building the hand rail for the current Cambridge Project Tom Silva even used the word "Domino" instead of something generic such as "floating tendon" as TOH has done in the past.

Even more interesting, very early in the episode while people were talking in the foreground, in the background a nameless tradesman is shown removing a Systainer 2 from the project and crossing screen left out of frame.

I sure home the sponsors at Stanley had a hissy fit! In the previous episode Tom needed some material cut to length on a DW chop saw. From his ladder he was calling the length. That DW saw was equipped with a Saw Gear digital stop system made by Tiger Stop. Tom Silva has been showing those for a while now, without ever being specific as to the brand, but the first time that was revealed in the closing credits.

In my metal fabrication plant we had been using the big brother Tiger Stops for over a year at that time, but they had not told me they were making a less expensive and more portable Saw Gear for woodworking. At that time there was no way to program the Saw Gear from another computer, which is a feature of the Tiger Stop. So in early 2011 I bit the bullet and equipped the 2 permanently located Kapex in my cabinet shop with 16' capacity Tiger Stops. Not only do they save us the energy of walking along the table to re-set the flag stops, the Saw Gear or Tiger Stops are accurate and repeatable to

I saw that railing build too. I was having a hard time telling if those were regular Dominos or PVC?

Long before Dewalt got plastered all over the script.

He used a TS55 in the same episode for cutting the wood for the window seat. I always like to see Festool being used on the show, unfortunately they are not used as frequently anymore.

I saw that the TS55 and guide rail was used for the window seat, but is was the episode after the Domino episode. Also on the side of the TS55 blade housing Tom had "Silva Brothers" written in big black letters.

If you watch the open sequence, two guys are sanding the ceiling using two RO150. Nice to see more Festool on the show.

Nice to see that when he can get away with it, Tom uses Festool instead of the Yellow crap he is forced to use.

Alan & Galway, what channel are you watching This Old House on in Ireland ?  I haven't seen any episodes in years, love that programme.

I kinda doubt that this link will work for international members, but give it a try and post here if it works for you.  I hope it does.

Your link looks correct but it looks like I am getting a "cannot find link" on your URL. Apparently us Canadians are considered International as far as some IP addresses are concerned so like us you guys in Europe may be able to see the program from the This Old House videos page.

Seen today on a differnt episode, but same house remodel project.  Tom S. used a TS55 (or 75?) to dimension the top of a windowseat.  Doesn't Dewalt have a tracksaw> ;)

Considering that DeWalt aka The Yellow Stuff and the Black and Decker family of tools pay the production expenses of the show, the salaries of the participants presumably including acquisition of the properties involved, I suspect that has something to do with it.  [popcorn]

Domino XL used in wood counter top shop for miters.

TS75 used by Tom to cut scribe of countertop leg/end to floor.  Nothing like being able to clamp the rail to a vertical surface  [thumbs up]
