I did some recently and the dominos make a pretty strong joint in melamine.  It helps with assembly as well.  I still added screws and used 5mm dominos.  I made a test panel and stood on it and it held my weight with no issues.  I'm a pretty small guy at 6'5 and 265.

Yes , I'm building 6 right now using egger mfc with 4 dominoes  and 3 screws per joint.

Yes... A biscuit can be another option, or Tenso connector.
