Domino XL 700 - Fence Assembly Issue

We recently acquired a Domino XL 700 for doors and larger cabinet work.  It is difficult to reassemble after removing the fence from the machine body to change a bit.  Specifically, it is very difficult to get the linear rail to insert back into the linear bearing.  It seems to bind no matter how carefully we attempt to align both parts on a flat surface. Any suggestions or thoughts on what could be causing this issue?  We also have several Domino 500's and have not had this problem. Has anyone had any similar issues?

Not with a Domino Joiner, but in a similar binding situation, I found a light touch of machine oil to the rod/rail the solution to the problem.

I never try to align the parts. I put the fence part on a bench with the two post out over the edge. I gently wiggle the other part onto the longer post. Then, slide the shorter post into the opening. Then, push the two parts together until they click together.

I would agree that binding is not normal. It sounds like you are taking due care to assemble, and though care is necessary, what you describe seems excessive.

All mechanical assemblies do have variations in tolerances, once assembled, is there any binding or force required to operate?

Without looking at mine, so from memory:

The fence is build to be put flatly (with its bottom) onto a surface with the back moving freely while the fence is in that particular position.
Aligning both parts on a flat surface individually likely leads to the back part being lower that it has to be.
