I am building a bed using a the domino connector system and want to know the best way to drop a mortise in the middle of the headboard for the center support stretcher.  I can use the fence as a reference on the stretcher itself, but have to raise the fence to cut the mortise on the headboard.  There does not appear to be a good index on the XL of where the bottom of the fence would be when raised  [crying]

You can use the bottom of the machine as a reference, gives you exactly 15mm offset to the center line of the mortice created.

You can use the alignment marks (page 12) and the center line on the baseplate (page 7) for free positioning on a flat surface, but clamping something to the surface to get a reference edge to push the machines base against (page 17), makes it easier as it helps against accidently rotating or relocating the mortice while doing the plunge.
