Domino XL mortise not level

I will be sending in the domino for servicing and hope for the best.

There was a question about whether the left side could really be flush, and technically, it is only flush in the vertical centerline of the domino and slopes in the opposite direction on the other side of the domino. I consistently get the slight slants so I have to believe its the machine. Also, I am using the tight setting in the attached picture.

I do use a domino plate since i'm working with thinner stock, but get the same results if I don't use the plate (picture shows both mortises with and without the plate). It is noticeable to the naked eye that the domino slants by looking at the plywood layers, although the plywood layers aren't perfectly uniformly thick. The reference faces I used are the outer surfaces of both work pieces, upon which the domino face would sit.

What size cutter are you using? They look quite small. Are you using an adapter for the 500 bits? If so is the problem replicated if you just use the 700 cutters?

I went back to the shop and measured from the XL base to the fence at both sides. To the best of my measuring ability, the fence on my unit is exactly parallel to the base. However I got a tiny amount of mortise skew when using the fence and none using the base. Go figure!

I've never had any alignment issues using the XL to Domino boards together so I'm just going to ignore the minimal skew.

I hope the OP gets his problem resolved and let's us know how it was fixed.

I have the same problem with the smaller Domino machine. I only used it on one project and was unhappy with the inaccuracy of the domino slots (angled when using the fence), so I bought other machines and stopped using the Domino. Is this fixable? The Dowelmax is more accurate, but so much slower...

I had the same problem joining the ends of boards together. I called support several times and tried to do what they said, hang the piece of the board, plunge evenly, hold it from the very back when pushing... I thought it was me, but it was pretty consistent and required a lot of sanding to fix. I eventually sent it back and they called and said it was perfect. No problems and all the samples I sent got lost.

Since it has come back it is fine, but I think part of the fence is new. The brace that runs across the fence looked new when it came back.

No one can tell until the root of the problem is identified. User error/inexperience? Fence defect? Defective lumber? Etc.
