Domino XL on Ebay - CHEAP anybody buy from them (STOLEN)

You do realize that they are not a dealer don't you?  I am not saying anything bad about them when I say that if I am going to be buying a tool for that sum of $$$ I will be going to a dealer.

Peter

That's what I was thinking... Usually order from uncle Bob....ITS SUCH A GOOD PRICE ....... DAMN TEMPTING

Tempting perhaps but, I realized that I had an issue with my Domino 500 a few years back and when I called I found out that it was a few months past the three years.  However, Festool agreed to fix my small issue for free and they got me my machine back across the country in one week (both directions).

It would have to pretty darn cheap to give up the dealer relationship and you know what they say about deals that appear to be too good to be true!

Information that I continue to read really raises an eyebrow about this seller on eBay. They are posting groups of 5+ products of high value at a time.

If any of our forum members have purchased one of these, please contact me. I would like to make sure these tools being sold are not stolen, etc. I assure you that if they are reported stolen, I will make sure you receive a replacement tool for your cooperation. Please email me or PM me with the serial number and any other pertinent information.

Just a bit of information that I learned yesterday, we have at least one dealer who has reported a scam involving a new service offered by UPS. The customer makes a purchase using a stolen credit card but ships to the correct billing address for the card. Then, while the tool (in this case three different DOMINO XLs) is in transit, they use the UPS service to change the delivery address. This leaves the dealer holding the bag for the charge back.

Thanks,
Shane

It is so sad hard hard these scammers work to make a dishonest living.  Just think if they put that much thought into a real job,  they might be a value to society! Shane that is awesome of you & Festool to offer to replace the possible fraudulent item with a legit one. What a great company!

I have one purchase from gqualityus. He had a new Domino XL as a buy it now or best offer so I bidded my best offer and was accepted. The unit arrived as described new and as the set as they have described. I have since registered the tool and also had Shane check the serial # as well to check if it was legit. I will let Shane chime in if he wants to make the details public.

It's hard to resist, however I threw a low ball bid in, and I expected to be denied immediately. However he countered with a really low price.  It makes it hard to no consider it. However, I have been burned from a Canada seller before offering a "to good to be true deal"  I'm a floor guy, so the guy had brand new Clarke edgers for 400. I bought 5 of them.  Never seen a single one.  However paypal did fix it for me.

I'd just like to quickly report that this eBay seller is a criminal, or has taken possession of stolen goods. I can confidently say that at least one of the Domino XLs was stolen from a Festool dealer through fraudulent credit card activity.

Again, if anyone bought from this eBay seller and would like to share any information, I would appreciate it. Festool is not in the business of law enforcement, so I come to you as me and not a representative of Festool in this request.

What a loser! [mad] [mad] [mad] [mad]

That sucks - and not like a CleanTec - but if the deal seems too good to be true...

Thanks for following up and letting us know, Shane!

I appreciate times are hard and we all want a good deal but not sure why any of these dubious Ebay 'shop' deals on Festool machinery are even tempting to Festool users. I can see the rationale in picking up occasional sundry items and consumables from non dealers but getting the core equipment from them is akin to commenting that some bloke down the pub offered you a Ferrari and asking a Ferrari forum if people think it will be okay.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking those of us who are trying to get their fix cheaper but put this in context; Festool are at the top of their game and on that basis dealer prices are pretty reasonable in my opinion. Even when the process of going through dealers is not perfect, I never worry that I will need to check if the equipment is stolen or if indeed it even turns up.

I was just contacted by someone about another eBay seller. Looks like another fraudster. Same geographic area, same types of products being sold.

eBay user - bestqualitydeals

Just a heads up.

If you're thinking of buying from eBay, take a moment to look at the seller's current and previous auctions. If you see that they have sold five $1000+ FLIR cameras, that should be a red flag, as an example. Or, multiple OF 2200 routers and Kapexs.

I always say when its to good to be true, it usually is

I buy from reputable people , I did buy a 850 planer used it wasnt a good deal (so to speak) it was about what Id expect to pay for a used tool.

Which was a bout $100 off list.

If I remember correctly he had the original reciept to.

Gotta be careful, its a jungle out there.

If ya buy stolen goods, are you are doing is enabling thief to steal more.

I decided to report this to ebay, but to report stolen Property, ebay says "Reports of stolen property on eBay need to come from a law enforcement official. This reporting reason is for law enforcement and eBay PROACT members." Oh well..... buyer beware.
