Domiplate Order Thread

Hi Ron,

My Dominoplate came in today. 6 days from you to Holland, not bad at all!
First some test joints, and the the upcoming project of a toy for my grandson.
Best, CJ'60

CJ, I must be sending enough of these all over the world that the Customs folks (getting to know me  [unsure]) are passing them right through...  [big grin]

I would love to see a picture of your grandson's new toy.

Ron

Yeah, the plate gets through customs easier than I do when visiting the US. Maybe because it's outbound  [unsure]

The toy will be (I hope) the first project that will pass my perfectionism/shame treshold and will get shared as WIP.
His birthday is March 18, by then I should be finished  ;)

Best, CJ

Ron, thank you.  I received mine last week and used it last night for about 32 or so mortises and it works beautifully.

Hello Ron, sorry I forgot to keep you posted in this thread.

This link shows the building process and the end result.

Just a random follow-up.  I love this accessory.  Using the Domino is just *that* much easier.  Perfect face and exterior alignments.  Fabulous in its simplicity.

Ron  Got mine and have been using it often, It is an awesome addition to a great tool. Makes thing so easy now
Thanks

Sal

I just placed an order for mine,

details on how to order are on page 7, post 188  [tongue]

I don't know how many more testimonials this thing needs.

But here's one more.

After my first test piece this morning, without even using a knob on the plate, I'm in awe. It's everything I'd hoped. This thing would have saved me a day or two of futzing, adjusting, and sanding down edges on my last job.

Hi Ron,

I am going to order one of these as soon as I buy a Domino.(hopefully sooner rather than later)  I am a graphic designer for my day job.  I would love to do a logo for your "Domiplate?" free of charge if you don't already have one.  I designed a logo for my "Boom-Boom" that I made last week.  I have posted it in the Festool jig & tool enhancement section under the name "I made a Boom Boom"

[attachthumb=#]
I used the Festool font.  Unfortunately there is not a font out there that is close so I re-created it.

I am also the person who made the imperial ruler for the TS55.  I can laser cut you a foil logo to mount on your plate just for giggles [smile]. Also on the house.

I love to see that there are still people out there willing to lend a helping hand!

Hope I can help, -Tim

That sounds interesting.  I do them on a CNC mill so I could mill a logo into the face with no extra setups.  I really hesitate to use "Domiplate" as many people call it -- it seems possibly too close to a trademark or copyright of Festool and I don't want to upset my favorite tool manufacturer.  Perhaps a contest to come up with a name for it???

CNC! That sounds even better!  I can e-mail you the vector form or I can even convert it to autocad.  The name competition sounds fun, but I like the name you already have for it.  I personally don't think it is to close to the name Domino.  I thought you named it after a pizza company [big grin].  Seriously though I can't imagine Festool making much stink about it.

Tim,

There is a font out there which is very close - Eurostile Bold Extended #2.

[big grin]

Jonny,

I read that linked post.  That was the exact problem I had with a font that I found.  Festool's corners are slightly rounded.  Kinda like running a router in a sign template.  I am just really anal about trying to get stuff perfect.  Nobody outside my wife and kids will ever see my boom boom logo in person.  I've got issues. [tongue]  Anyway, thanks for the comment!

-Tim

P.S. I think "DomPlate" would be a good name too! Think...Template

I also want to say that the Domino Gadget is a very simple and handy accessory. It is well worth the money. I have been working on an entertainment center and have used the Gadget for many Domino's. I choose to use 2 cap head screws, I can tighten with an allen wrench, to attach the gadget to the Domino, as I have a hard time gripping the small Festool Knobs that I purchased. Thank You Ron for the Gadget and I am looking forward to seeing what your next Gadget is going to be.

Hey, I see you have changed the name of your product from the Domiplate to the Domplate.    [blink] [big grin] [unsure]

I must have missed the contest for the new name.  [tongue]
