Door trimming with ts55

I used my ts55 and rail the other day to trim the bottoms of some internal doors (in-situ) the other day, I could clamp the rail at the lock side of the door but not the hinge side using the standard screw clamps.

Does anyone have a solution to this ?  All I did was place plastic packers under the rail on the floor until it was raised to the correct height.

Are there any special clamps that would work in this situation?

It depends on where your hinges are located, jamb configuration, etc.  I have trimmed a couple of doors that I could clamp both ends without an issue, just hold the clamp in place and slide the rail onto it.  I ran into one door where the hinges were in the way of the clamp.  I used a spring clamp to hold the far edge (away from the kerf strip).

No the hinges were not in my way on the ones I did.

I had the door fully open 180 degrees almost but could not get the clamp in on the hinge side because of the position of the clamp handle.

I just had a quick look in the catalogue and saw the fs clamps they look like the right ones to use.

I see.  I cut mine with the door at 90*.  It was tight, but it worked.

We were thinking the same thing.  I tried the FS after my last post.  It works great at 90* or 180*.  The only downside is that you would have to have a little longer rail than using the screw clamps or rapid clamps.

Yeah I have 2 x 1400 rails

Just looked at the quick clamps online they look ok around ?24 in the UK.
