I have become a great fan of quarter sawn white oak. Works well, very little seasonal movement, and looks great with WipeOn Poly.

It does look great. Did you make the pulls too?

No, my "client" picked them out. They are solid steel. I used a True Position jig to locate the holes. It is a really neat tool. I knew any variation on the pull position would scream at the eyes.

Yes, I like the grain pattern of white oak. 
I should try to use it more.  I more commonly use hard maple, which I don't find particularly friendly to working with or finishing.

Oh, ok. From the pics, they look like they could have been wood, with a back-bevel. It must just be the darkness and shadows.

I offered to make them out of ebony but she was set on these pulls. She got them at a good discount as they are discontinued.
