Found a dealer selling the discontinued 576061 and wondering what the difference is between that and the current 577520. The images on both the retailer site for the discontinued model and the Festool site look pretty much identical - even the Systainer looks to be the same SYS3 M187.

Any thoughts?

Don't believe all of the retailer photos.  The FUSA photos include a UK plug, so you know they're not fully accurate to begin with.

I believe that the 576061 is actually in a T-LOC Systainer instead of a Sys3 Systainer, but otherwise not much different.  The sanders themselves have not had any major changes in over 5 years.

Not any major changes I am aware of on the dts either; besides the cordless version.
If you can get one on a discount buy it. I bought mine years ago more on a whim rather than really wanting it. I use it a lot, really a lot. For me the dts and ets 125 are my standard working combo. When needed I move from the ets 125 to the 150/3. The point is the dts and a round sander work out as a great combo to get work done well

Thank you all for the feedback.

I ended up going to the dealer today and picking up the DTS 400 for $260. And [member=63201]RustE[/member] is right, the difference is with the two additional holes in the sanding pad. The dealer also had some packs of the old sandpaper on discount for $40 for the 100ct.

[member=75217]squall_line[/member] Turns out this set is also in the SYS3 M187 instead of the T-Loc.

Updated for 2023, the sanding pad has been redesigned with an additional two holes near the back. The purpose is to optimize air flow and reduce suction between the sander and surface and thereby improve the resulting surface finish. Abrasives and sanding pads are backwards and forwards compatible.

Expanding on this redesigned pad for just a bit, Festool refers to the new pad version as a Delta 9, named for the 9 air ports/holes that are in the new pad. Here's a comparison between the new Delta 9 vs the older Delta 7.

And as mentioned, the new Delta 9 pad works with the older sanders that originally came with the Delta 7 pad. Here's an older DTSC 400 with the Delta 7 pad removed.
