Got the edging plate and chip deflector today, and immediately put it to use flush trimming some edge banding. Works great, but dust collection of the deflector is not nearly as good as I was expecting. I'm pretty sure I'm doing it according to spec, attaching it to the platen on the handle side of the router (rather than the trigger side), and lowering it so it is as close to bit as safely possible. Using 27mm hose. Anyone else noticed the limitations of the deflector when using the angle arm + edging plate?
UPDATE: Oops -- nevermind. This was my first time doing horizontal routing, and so I forgot that the directions are reversed, so I was actually climb routing on the first few boards. I didn't notice initially because the edge I was trimming was so thin. Run the proper way (right to left), the dust collection is much better.
One usage note, though. When using the edging plate for the first time it's good to check the screws securing the sub-base to the plate. Out of the box one of mine was slightly protruded and gouged my veneer before I figured out what was going on and tightened it.
