I have the 26E dust extractor connected to my Kapex miter saw  saw and it doesn't seem to extract the saw dust very well. I am wondering if a larger diameter hose would help this problem. The 27 mm came with the extractor

Yes on the larger hose, and many people also shorten the 36mm hose, if you can keep the extractor nearby the saw. Seems to help.

That's what I've done .. also get into the flow of giving the DC a couple of run seconds after you're through the cut for a little extra pickup.

Cutting technique is really important to get the best dust extraction. Pull the saw towards you first then drop it down in front of the timber and make the cut by pushing it back through the timber, this fires the dust in to the extraction chute if you know what I mean. The extraction is never great if you are cutting mitres.

Welcome to the FOG

Also if you get in the habit of starting the saw waiting a second of two for the dust extractor to full speed.
Good luck

Keep in mind that 100% collection won't happen either.

I've not bothered to figure out how much or what percentage of dust is captured, I just know that what collection there is, is a lot better than any other saw of this type I've used.

Short run, bigger hose helps but at the end of the day I still use the vac to suck up the escapees at the job site.

In the shop I'm still considering putting the saw on my main collection system if only to free up the vac for other tasks.
