dust extraction on round surfaces

Anyone have any experience with the ability of festool's multimode orbital sanders with dust extraction working on bowls and other rounded objects?  Wondering if there is any point to paying for the dust extraction systems in this case?

Daniel, welcome to the forum.

Check out our optional interface pad for your sander. It will conform to rounded surfaces while maintaining very good dust collection. A suggestion from, I think, Scott B. was to stack 2 of them for more cushion for more acute angles.

Festool sanders and most of their tools with dust ports benefit from the cooling provided by dust collection from an extractor.

I have no experience sanding bowls and similar projects, but what I have read is that this is usually done with a soft interface pad or even two. Those have the reputation of providing excellent dust collection.

My suggestion is to be very careful should you decide to give bowl saning a try without using Festool dust extraction.
