Hello,

Using the MFK 700 EQ/B Edge Router in hortizantal position. I’m getting intermittent removal of the melamine surface. Should I just lower the guide plate to reduce depth of cut? Or any other tip that can be shared?

Any tipping of the router will cause this.

Adjust the fence a little, see if it helps.

Also feel the surface of the melamine, check it for humps.

Thank you. I noticed I had the bit a little wider then the edge banding thickness. Do you typically set the bit exactly the thickness of the edge banding? In my case I’m using 3mm edge banding.

Leave it a touch high (1/2 mm) see if there are areas that are even. The entire piece the 1/2 mm high. If it is not the melamine is not flat.

If anything my bits would be sticking past the banding a few millimeters.

Which base are you using, the 0 degree or the 1.5 degree? You can have more issues with the 0 degree base. Use Tom's suggestions and run test pieces before wrecking a good piece.
