MFK 700 Edge Guide?
Anyone know what's going on with this part? It's very hard to find now and it looks like Festool may have come out with an updated version - Festool Item Number 578054. It's listed as "Edge Guide SA-OF 1010/MFK" at $69 vs the previous version at $83 listed as "Parallel Edge Guide for MFK 700 EQ Trim Router". First picture is the new version. Second picture the previous.

My finger has been on the trigger for a while on the MFK-700. Just haven't been able to make myself do it. Now I definitely think I'm going to wait. The new edge guide looks great, but it isn't included in the big bundle, even though the old one used to be. I also think this may be Festool's first cordless router conversion. I'm going to give it a few more months to see what shakes out. It's not like I need another router.  [eek]

I'm hoping you're right on the cordless conversion Jeff.  [smile]

Actually, if this new edge guide had been available when I purchased my 1010, I'd probably not have traveled down the Micro Fence road. The old edge guide was so off-putting that I purchased Micro Fence edge guides for the 1010, 1400 and 700 routers.

I think I dropped one of my extra 2200 edge guides in with my 1010 since the rods still fit, even though they're on the inside end of the tolerance for the hole spacing.

I don't think you'll ever regret owning any of Rich Wedler's gear.

Apparently this was talked about in a recent Festool Live video. Someone in another group sent me this video link:

The set that includes it is already on the (European) Festool website as 'new' and 'not available at the moment'.

I waited years to buy the MFK 700, something I've come to regret. It's such a nice machine for rounding edges without it tipping on the corners.

It's probably not the owning part, but the paying when buying ;)

I had one of the old style edge guides (pre-fire) but never replaced it, when I got the replacement machine.
I just bought it to be "complete", not having a specific use-case, then it just sat. I don't necessarily mind the one that comes with the OF1010. The limiting factor is the non-movable fences. I just pop them off and screw on some 1/2" plywood strips to close the gap.
I do like the looks of that new version.
With as many routers as I have, there seems to be a configuration that will work.
I'll probably buy one though, if/when they become available.

Don't sleep on the MFK700. They are fantastic little routers. I keep one of mine with the zero-degree base/horizontal mode all of the time. The other one is more of a floater.
