Hello fellow Festool Owners!

Some of you may remember the questions I had awhile back while planning for our Kapex purchase.  We have everything up and running and thought I would share what we came up with.

Objective: Use the Kapex as a mobile saw station in the shop (We are a small custom cabinet shop) and then when we do our installs be able to easily transport it and the dedicated vac to the site.

Festools:  Kapex, dedicated Midi vac(with 36mm hose from cleaning kit cut in half), Kapex MFT, UG Extensions

Other parts:  Multiblades KA-UG connecting brackets  www.multiblades.com,  Kreg Trak & Stop System  http://www.kregtool.com/Precision-Trak-Stop-System-Prodview.html,  Kreg Imperial rulers,    Casters from C & H,  Knobs from Lee Valley

The shop cart was made from Baltic Birch and maple hardwood.

While we brainstormed this together at the beginning, my brother Andrew gets all the credit for the design and construction of the shop cart.  [thumbs up]

Would you mind taking a couple of pictures of how you built those drawers?  Are they half-inch ply all the way around?  Is the front of the drawer an additional half-inch piece?  Did you use Dominos?   Thanks.  [big grin]

Would you mind taking a couple of pictures of how you built those drawers?  Are they half-inch ply all the way around?  Is the front of the drawer an additional half-inch piece?  Did you use Dominos?  Thanks.  [big grin]

Here you go.  We use pocket screws for this type of drawer.  quick, easy, and strong.  For the little commercial/medical work we do, melamine drawers gets used.  Our typical drawer is a maple dovetailed

The video explains the jig we use for making the drawers.  I made it for fastcap.

Thanks, Weston.  I think I added one of your photos on Houzz to one of my idea books.  That site has been a great marketing tool for me.  I'm a teacher so I only do this part time (after school and weekends) and thus can't take on too much but if this were my occupation I would cultivate my presence on that site even more.  I've had more inquiries and jobs come from my presence on Houzz than from my website and FB page combined.

Do you find that the Kreg stops move if you jam or hit it hard while positioning stock to cut?

Before I cut the drawer components I rebate/rabbet the bottoms and then cut and rebate/rabbet the sides and use 1/2" for my melamine drawers. The math is a little more complicated than your approach.

Have not noticed this, but we haven't been using them very long.  I will keep my eye out for it.

I have the same Kreg set up and while I haven't found that the stops move when bumped they do move/twist when I tighten the knob down.

Tim,

I am not using the web site builder but I may look into it.  My website is lacking and I rarely use it/update it.  I spend more time on my Houzz page and my FB page.
