Eight Years Later...

The TS55 side plate covers the opening for the wrench used to change blades. Using the side plate improves dust collection.

As a fairly new member and a new Festool Owner ( 8 months ) I can truly say that I appreciate the advice and commitment that everyone puts into this forum.

I personally appreciate the fact that everyone is willing to offer advice and you don't get hammered for asking questions.

I have learned a lot from everyone on here and I look forward to learning a lot more!

Thanks,

Keith

Happy Birthday FOG.

To celebrate I've bought a ctl26e sword saw and a ts55r  ;D
Your some man... Any excuse for a Green Party.

Congrats to all at FOG and a big thank you to all the contributors, moderators and Festool employees who help make it a great place to come.

To celebrate the birthday, I've ordered a cms-ge, router module, sliding table, hose set and another mitre fence. I've heard today it's all in at dealers except the module...Festool UK not confirmed date yet but they have confirmed a loaner module isn't available as it's damaged!!
I'm very chill axed about it though...it will come and it will be awesome when it does.

Happy Birthday to FOG.  Ditto to all of above replies.

I was introduced to the FOG by "Uncle Bob" way back when it was being moderated by Mathew.  I was only 39 in those way back days.  I am now 39 and still enjoying the fun, camaraderie, education and a lot of new toys i wood not have filled my shop with had it not been for the chance to study thru the experiences of all the other FOGgers who have related their own experiences.

Thru all of these years, i have met and enjoyed, many new friends. Even tho i have not met most of those friends face to face, there have been many who i would like very much to meet. Some, i have corresponded directly.  We all have a mutual interest in a particular hobby, Woodworking.  I am amazed that I can read about a problem that a man is having in Eastern Europe, receive a reply loaded with good advice from a man in Afrika within minutes, another reply from a man who walks upside down from "DownUnder" and another reply from Canada and so on.

Thru FOG, i have met personally, many very skilled craftsmen from all over Connecticut, New York State, Long Island, and even a wonderful couple from Yorkshire. I have been afforded the opportunity to correspond directly with those i would call friends from the wilds of Northern Jersey, Sweden, Austrailia, Canada, eastern shore New Jersey, Hudson Valley and i have met fine people from all over the state of Connecticut including a practically next door neighbor not more that three miles from my home.  So many wonderful people.

There have been so many who have taken the time and have the skill and knowledge to post so many educational videos of tool applications and project procedures we have all benefitted from.  There is no way to thank all who have contributed.  Soon, I will be 39 and I have benefitted in so many ways since I turned 39 and look forward to another 39 years of enjoyment, and meeting new people.

Thanks to Shane, Peter and Seth for keeping us all in line.  And thanks to Festoy for allowing all sides, good, bad and indifferent.  And a special thanks to Mathew Schenker for his original efforts to get this thing rolling.

Oh, BTW, you guys even put up with my stories  ::)
Tinker

And best of all is that you guys even put up

I like everything about FOG.  My wallet does not like this place so much.

I learned about Festool from my local dealer.  I turned to FOG before moving to a tool line of Festool quality and cost.  Soon after researching Festool on FOG I bought a DE, TS, RO and an OF.  The rest as they say is history.  The kindness and knowledge around here are both terrific assets that keep me coming back.

    The years fly by...............

It is great that Festool allows this forum to exist with all the differing opinions expressed. The members have truly created a tremendous knowledge base here on FOG. The generally level headed , peaceful atmosphere makes for a relatively unique internet forum experience.

There is NEGATIVE side to FOG. I could have been blissfully ignorant, but nooooo,  we here in the US are teased by all the NAINA items. I am actually shocked the vectoro is available here. and in stock and my pusher...er...Woodcraft store!

It's without a doubt a great forum and maybe it's unique because the tools are unique. Festool have to be commended for letting people post as many negatives about the tools as we like. The only moderation I have seen is along the lines of political insensitivity or personal comments etc.

There are a lot of negative comments about some tools in particular and it has actually put me off purchasing certain tools. However I think we're all evolved enough nowadays to take a balanced view of what we read on the internet and the overwhelming impression this site gives is that ownership of Festool tools is both profitable and enjoyable.

The reason I think this site is able to be unique is that I don't think another manufacturer could afford to allow the level of criticism that Festool does. You would have to supremely confident in your product to both allow and encourage the level of scrutiny that this site provides. I think for many other manufacturers a similar forum would actually reduce rather than increase sales. I think the other reason that there isn't a similar offering to the FOG in terms of size and contributors is that other manufacturers don't make users feel passionate about their tools in the way Festool do. That level of passion which is almost unique to Festool is the driving force of the FOG and starts in Germany. Coupled with American customer service it's hard to imagine it being beaten by any other manufacturer.

All in all it's a great place and Shane's library comment has reminded me that I need to do something re giving back...
