So, managed to catch up with the final two episodes of this last night after accidentally catching something mentioning the outcome on the Wood Whisperer's FB feed.

Anyone else seen it yet and have any comments?

I was a little gutted as Tim's stuff seemed excellent throughout. Obviously most of it was copied from my own vast portfolio of OSB clad stud walls and OSB clad everything else.

Yeah I was gutted as well at Tim's disqualification, embarrassing. Katie should have lost earlier over that cow table, and been disqualified because of that fingernails on the chalkboard hipster accent.

He's on her show this week apparently, and he's been posting Instagram photos with Chip too, so the conspiracy theorists are on it about what actually happened.

I agree like totally... ;-) What are the odds Tim saw that desk design from overseas and copied it? Either way he is still a great designer and crafstman. I enjoyed the show.

I didn't know anything about this show.  I just found a video on youtube, and you are right...Katie easily wins the award for most irritating affected accent.

The best part about the show, aside from the cool creations, was the distinct lack of drama when compared to Framework. Once they got rid of the older woman (in the second challenge IIRC) the only drama was between the judges and the contestants. Just the way it should be. OK, yes, there was a little between Chip and Tim with regard to design, but that's hardly notable when compared to Framework... The peeps at Spike should be ashamed.

He appeared on her show today and gave his side of the matter.
Here is a link to that segment:

I found the final episode very disturbing. The specter of plagiarism, reversal of fortunes and awarding the "Championship" to someone who built some very crappy stuff was unsettling. The fact that they didn't offer much clarity or reasoning exasperated the situation. I went into the final episode believing that there were people looking to have her win even thou she was not as good or as well rounded. The fact that she absolutely freaked out in a interview segment about meeting Ellen on set seemed to give her huge equity from that point forward.

Her cow table was a disaster and clearly the worst piece in that competition_but they decided not to eliminate anyone that week, after the fact? The cow table was clear plagiarism and poorly executed. Google "Cow table", $119.

Her final piece was a disaster that did not meet the qualifications. I didn't see any stops on the acrylic top so unknowingly pulling it out too far would not only be a trip to the emergency room but here in LA it would be a call to Larry H. Parker LLC! (how much would that acrylic weigh?)The piece was derivative and not revolutionary or capable of being marketed in any way_if anyone sat on her chairs they would be on the ground in nothing flat, no lateral support.

It is unfortunate but it is what it is. Ellen is funny, good at making money and good at advancing her brand but I'm just not a fan.

This is a network that continually plays reruns of "Cops" day and night. "Common" is a joke! You need to look at their normal demographic. All that said, they have over performed as far as my expectations go.

The 2 designers give very relevant feedback and guide the contestants to being more commercially viable. I'm sure that Jory will feel like he got a degree in business and marketing after this is done and his talent and character are getting well deserved exposure. He will do well and as far as Jory goes, I am a big fan!!!!!

Just watched that video, must have been difficult to do. Still not convinced it wasn't just a rip-off he was trying to get away with, but his excuse is definitely plausible enough.

Am sure he'll do well, he was very good.

The monstrosity that was probably "right on trend" that Katie did in the final was horrific, they must have been holding back the tears as they were forced to give it compliments on air. You're absolutely right about the cow table, ridiculous that she wasn't booted for that.

I liked Gaspar's table too.

horrible ending, tim is superior in all aspects of a designer and craftsman. i agree with katies cow piece..that should of sent her home a while ago. that red cnc closet was horrible as well, the women judges never brought to attention to that piece as being to feminine?? they question everyone elses as being soo masculine?? at least be fair and consistent. NO guy will buy that red closet.

I am glad he was able to go on the show and he was very respectful and collected. That would have been hard to do.

What a crappy outcome.  Total let down.

I agree with what has been said and Tim should still be the winner.

His piece was way better than the "copied" piece…and he did it in 72 hours.  And he had 1/2 of the build responsibilities too.

Katie's piece had PVC pipe as columns.  She had her choice of all materials and used PVC???  c'mon Ellen.
