Ellen's Design Challenge

Just finished watching the first episode. The official channel is now on YouTube.

The guy who got booted for the wall shelf/standing desk was unlucky, IMO. Sure, it wasn't great, but it wasn't as bad as that older woman with the wall panel. She should have gone instead, but they didn't even put her in the bottom two. Maybe I'm biased because I simply didn't like her from the moment she treated the carpenter like something she'd stepped in.

The campaign desk was really good, and definitely deserved to win. Someone was asking about how he made the screw thread - obviously he didn't - presumably as well as the materials from the crates, they had access to various bits of hardware (otherwise how would you make anything?) and the screw thread came from there.

Not found anywhere to watch Framework yet, so can't compare the two, but I definitely enjoyed this one.

Install Modify Headers add-on to Firefox and tweak it so you appear to be in the States and watch it on the Spike website.

Well, having watched both pilot episodes I really don't like the super negative attitude of the Framework judges - its as if their only goal in life is to try to be even worse than Simon in America's got talent/idol/whatever it was.

At least the Design Challenge had more of a constructive criticism and trying to point out positive points as well.

I don't like the general drop-one-every-week format in the first place, but then trying to add drama by having nasty judges and a BB-style nagging corner just doesn't make it any better.

Whoever was in charge of getting participation from tool manufacturers needs a serious round of applause.

Looks like it's just everything that Rockler sells.

Pilot was good, I'm not sure I'd pick one show over the other, but this show is a much less cutthroat pace.

Agreed.
