This past Thursday and Friday I attended my third end user training class at the Festool Henderson, NV training facility. I said it last time, Steve Bace is an excellent trainer, and a lot of fun as well!

For this class, we learned how to make a face frame base cabinet and a frameless upper. We used the Kapex to size the face frame pieces, the TS55REQ to cut down the plywood, the Domino 500 for assembly, the MFK700 to trim edge banding and cut the groove for the back piece, the Rotex 90 to clean up the face frame and the LR32 for boring holes in the upper. Having never built a cabinet this was all new to me, but each step was well thought out and explained in clear understandable fashion. Mistakes were of course made from time to time (not my group though...! :P), and fixes were explained, for example we did not have our Domino fence all the way at 90 degrees for a few plunges, Steve superglued a Domino into those holes and cut it flush, and we re-plunged at the correct angle - what a cool trick!

All of the cabinets made looked nice, and they were actually taken home by a couple of attendees for use in their shops! Once the cabinets were completed we discussed questions people had about installation, toe kicks and scribing as well as a couple of the sanders and drills in the Festool lineup. There is no timeline or race to be finished at these classes, they move at their own pace based on the abilities of the attendees.

So I just wanted to again thank Festool for these great classes, and Steve Bace for being the guy he is! Yes seating is limited and the classes fill up super fast, but if you do get a chance to attend, I strongly suggest it! I am looking forward to attending more classes, especially Doors & Drawers and the Farm Table class looks fun as well.

And FYI, the Sunset Station hotel is basically right around the corner from the training facility, and maybe 15 minutes from McCarran airport. It is a very nice hotel.

Hey Jeff,

Where did he take ya for dinner ?

I tell Steve is a great guy. i used to stop in and see him whenever I was in Vegas visiting the inlaws.

I stopped by and saw him just before I came over here.

Still email him every now and then

Awesome...yes, Steve is tops as is Brian and everyone else I have ever had the pleasure of meeting or talking to.  These classes are great...always learn something new.
