End User Training Event - Cabinet Making - Indianapolis - Feb. 15-16, 2010

We would like to extend another invitation to end users to attend a new training event.  Below, you will find details about that event.  Please let us know if you have any questions. If you have already completed a survey for one of our previous training events and were not selected, you will need to apply again. 

Course Description:
We are calling for entries for a 2-day class focused on the onsite construction and installation of cabinets utilizing the Festool System.    The class will take place at our headquarters in Lebanon, IN, and will be primarily geared towards professional applications.

In this class, we will cover the tools and techniques necessary to build and install shop-quality cabinetry onsite.  Though participants will walk away with a range of broadly applicable skills, the class will concentrate primarily on the construction of a 32mm frameless upper cabinet and a traditional face-frame base cabinet.  From raw material to finished boxes ready for finish, you will learn how to work faster, easier, and smarter with the Festool System.

Since most of the two days will be spent in the shop, actually using the tools, we request that registrants have some previous knowledge of the Festool System, and/or the basics of trim carpentry or cabinet construction. 

Though we hope to add classes geared toward novices in the future, this should be considered an intermediate to expert-level class.


What will I learn?

Onsite Cabinet Construction

- Accurate and safe processing of a 4 x 8 sheet goods with the TS Plunge-cut saw
- Precision ripping with FS parallel guides
- Squaring and final dimensioning of cabinet parts on the Multifunction table
- Dimensioning parts with Kapex miter saw
- Building a face frame with the Domino joiner
- Joining frames and cases with the Domino joiner
- LR 32 Hole drilling set
- Hinge plate boring
- Shelf pin boring
- Trimming edge banding with MFK700 router
- Quick and efficient assembly with T-drills

Installation Basics

- Toe kick construction with Domino
- Filler strip attachment with Domino
- Scribing with Rotex, TS 55, Or PS jigsaws


How do I apply and how are participants selected?

Travel and Accommodations:
Participants are responsible for all travel and accommodations.  We will be glad to help you make hotel reservations at our preferred local establishment (Fairfield Inn).  And for those participants staying at the Fairfield Inn, Festool will arrive for pick-up on both days at 7:30am. 

Festool will provide basic refreshments (bagels and coffee) in the morning at our HQ, and lunch will be provided both days. As well as dinner the first night of class.

Jesse, the plan is to have at least 10-12 of these during 2010 in Indianapolis and Las Vegas.  So, there should be additional opportunities throughout the year.

It's just that those with jobs might need the advance time to let their employer know. Those of us that are are self-employed, I would think, like to have work scheduled for more than 3 weeks out. I know I do!

Not in this particular class.  Although I believe there are plans to offer a class specifically on door and drawer construction.

Course Description:
We are now calling for entries for a 2-day class focused on the practical application of the Festool Router System.  The class will take place at Festool's Training Center in Lebanon, IN (just NW of Indianapolis), and will be primarily geared towards professional applications.

In this class, we will cover the full Festool router lineup, including the MFK 700, OF 1010, OF 1400, and OF 2200, as well as key system accessories such as the MFS, LR32 Hole boring system, and FS Guide rails.  Participants should expect to walk away with a range of broadly applicable skills, with emphasis on panelized doors, circles and arcs, cabinet shelf pins and hinge boring, inlays, fluting, and edge-banding, among others.

Participants will leave with an improved understanding of advanced routing techniques as they apply to trim carpentry, cabinet work, and furniture construction.  Real-world, application-based exercises will enhance the participant's understanding of how to efficiently employ the Festool Router System in the shop and on the jobsite.

Just as Peter listed, that was the curriculum for the first advanced router class.  I suspect any subsequent classes will have the same material covered.

I almost filled out an app but i have lots of inside work and i have to take it while i can.  Would love to go because i live in Indy and it would be helpful to learn how to do this more efficiently. Maybe i will catch one when i am a little slow on work.

Thanks for the info guys.  Yes, I would love to make the time to get to one or both of the classes.  I wish the vegas classes were on thursday and friday....that would work into a vacation for the weekend.....any chance of that happening??

Hi: I am brand spanking new to FOG and Festool. Although I have been doing this pretty much all my life, I finally reached the point of taking the Festool plunge. I would love to take a few classes on the tools, as I have always been big on learning from pros. My only squawk with Festool is getting competent training. They offer a class for 5-6 and 200+ apply. How about taping the classes and offering videos for purchase? I am sure that I am number 1 million on that unique suggestion. Love to hear from anyone who has any info on learning how to maximize the use of Festools, classes, video or books. Thanks! Love the site...

Arte, welcome to the forum.  We certainly hope to hear more from you in the future.

Currently, the end user training program is still in its infancy.  We may, at some point, produce videos from the training sessions that would be made available to our customers.  We certainly understand the important and the demand for more video content.

While video of the complete training sessions are not something currently in the works, we will begin releasing a lot of new video content in the coming months that will be educational and informational.  Thanks for the feedback.
