I saw this on Craigslist in the Philadelphia PA area. Item 4488681055. There are some Festool items from the estate of a local tool enthusiast. They are for sale at 50%  of new price. One issue is that I do not know if they have any record of the sale date (not sure how much was bought at this store) and thus the amount of warranty left may be unknown. When I left at noon today, they still had a Planex with harness set, a Shinex, a lot of sandpaper, a large assortment of MFT hardware bits and pieces and some other odds and ends. The Planex and Shinex looked unused.

There is also a very large assortment of other woodworking tools, clamps etc also at 50% or better. Many of the items look unused.

I suddenly cannot remember the name of the company and I have not received my email receipt yet, so I cannot give a telephone number either. If you are in the area, it may be worth a look. The store is at the end of the parking lot on the right as you enter from the street.

I picked up 2 black and yellow mini tainers, 2x Sys 1 and a Sys 3 black and yellow, a Kapex aluminum cutting blade, TS75 Panther blade, MFT braces, guide rail joiners, assorted sandpaper and various non Festool bits and pieces.

I may be totally off base here, but based on the fact that it is an estate sale in West Chester, PA, I think it might be tools from the estate of Fred West who was a cherished member here and a well know and respected collector and user of tools.

I believe that you are correct. I saw a sticker on one box with his name. I do not know any further details.

Was there still a decent amount of stuff left? specifically, did you happen to see any bar clamps? I am in need of them!

Thanks for the heads up! may stop by tomorrow morning

I wish I lived closer. It would be nice to have something previously owned by Fred. I never had the chance to meet him in person, but I always appreciated his insightful posts here.

Yes he was. Even he wasn't sure exactly how many he had. The collection is worth a fortune for sure.

I have photos of many of the high end pieces. The one in the photo below was always my absolute favorite. He bought it about three years ago. I was hoping to be able to purchase it. I would be such an honor to have it in my shop. If this is Fred's estate sale, and I had known about it I would have flown back there just to buy it.

If it's already sold, I hope the new owner truly appreciates what he has.

Can anybody come up with some contact information for whomever is holding the sale? Specifically a phone number?

Sorry for the delay. I just remembered I could look them up on Festool USA.

Sorry to take up forum space but I may be having problems with my private messages.

To Peter Halle. Yes I have found receipts in one of the boxes with the name Fred West.

I just got off the phone with Kevin Walsh (his contact info is below). He contracted with Susan Lea, Fred's former wife, to sell Fred's Festools and other power tools and a few hand tools.

The proceeds from these sales will go to Eleanor, Fred's daughter. Kevin will take a percentage of the sales. This was organized by Susan, who has a background in business, and I'm sure she worked out a pretty good deal for herself.

Apparently most of the big tools are already sold (the Hammer A3-31, Felder sliding table saw, Minimax bandsaw, etc.), but there are still Festools like the Planex and I'm sure some Sysports that are available.

Kevin will send me some pictures of the tools available in the next few days, and I'll post them on talkFestool.com.

If you are interested in owning some of Fred's tools, please contact Kevin (who is a Festool dealer near where Fred lived), and you can negotiate prices with him.

Not any more! I was lucky enough to be able to buy his Planex and it arrived on Friday.

I never met Fred, but wish I could have. From all accounts he was an Icon in the industry.  I'm not quite sure how I'll honor him, but I think I might print out some info about him and keep it in the Systainer with the Planex.

This was something of a milestone for me as well. For one thing, it's my first Maxi Systainer! Whoo-hoo! I sold my old Porter Cable 7800 and abrasives, and got almost enough to fund half the cost of the Planex. Thank you CL buyers who think they can't afford Festool.  [blink]

This thing is so well engineered it is AMAZING. My wife's immediate comment was "That thing looks like it should be used on the space station." I hadn't thought about it, but she's right.

And the ability to have it break down and fit into a Maxi-Sys is also amazing. It has a nice, substantial click when it all goes together. It feels like a piece of precision machinery - like a firearm - rather than something that is designed to be used in a kinda nasty environment and get full of dust.

Well, I suppose I should go watch some video's about how to use it. And perhaps do a little workout to strengthen my upper body, until the Planex can take over doing that ...

Bumping this thread to let everyone know that Fred's Felder Hammer K3 table saw is still available for $4000.

Here's a recent photo:

Like most of Fred's stuff, it looks virtually new/unused. I can't use it - maybe you can?

Kevin is at IWF this week, so if you're interested feel free to contact Patty Colpo @ Cell# 484-886-5385. Be sure to tell her "I saw it on the FOG".

Am I missing something or is that a terrible deal?  Can't tell what size it is, but even the 48x48 K3 is only $4600 brand new.  And the smaller ones are under $4k.

I do not have any idea about value - sorry! I was just posting the information I was given, kind of as a humble 'nod' to Fred.

You obviously need to determine the value of the deal to you. If you are interested but you think their number is out of line, you can alway call and chat with them. This is an estate sale, so it all has to go sooner or later.
