ETS EC 150/3 vs ETS EC 125/3

HI folks

I looked at this very closely,  it would appear that both machines have exact same motor characteristics such as 400w output etc.

As well,  it appears that the bolt size and threads to remove the pad is same.

My question is - - - -  can I  put the 150mm pad on the 125mm machine??  If yes then I may as well buy the less expensive machine and buy the 150 pad if and when needed. In short buy the 5 inch machine and just swap it out to a 6 inch pad if and when needed. This saves me a bit of money up front and gives me option to up size.

Has anyone tried this?

The pads for these aren't interchangeable. The 150 pad will not fit on the 125. The pad break will not work correctly as well as the spindle on each sander is different.

How about using a 150 Rotex polishing sponge or sheepskin pad on an ETS EC 150? Wonder what kind of polishing results you'd get with an ETS EC 150/3?

The ETS sander does not rotate at 600 rpm like a Rotex when it's in gear driven mode. The ETS only vibrates, and with a small rotation speed, so the movement speed of the polishing pad is reduced to almost zero in comparison.  If you polish long enough with the ETS you'll get some result, but doing it by hand would probably be faster.

Even the rpm of the Rotex is low compared to a dedicated polisher, which typically runs from 1500-2500 rpm.

This is probably why I feel that the ETS EC vibrates more than I expected after a short time of having experience with the RO150?
