ETS EC 150 Ramping Speed?

I thought for a moment about putting this is the problems forum but I don't really think it is a problem.

I've been using both the Festool ETS EC 150/5 and EC 150/3 sanders since May and they've been really great. But yesterday was the first time I needed to do contours and used the Interface Pad with the 150/3. The sander was set to max speed but as I'm going over the contours, I noticed the sander would slow down and speed up. At first, I thought there was an issue but I noticed that if the pad looked like it was slowing down, the sander would speed up - and vice versa.

At the end of the day, the results were great and I'm chalking it up to another feature I hadn't known about, but I wanted to make sure. The sander does ramp up and down depending on the situation?

Thanks!

The EC sanders have some advanced electronics. If the sander becomes unbalanced, the speed will slow down. Not usually happening, but the interface pad can sometimes not be mounted exactly right and causes a wobble.
