ETS EC Upgrade Bad Decision

I would love for them to come out with a 22mm version of that hose i think it would be an amazing choice.

Well here's a 21.5 mm non-AS version that's used with the hand sanding block. It's extremely light in weight and works well for sanding chores. I use it with the HSK hand sanding block for small drywall areas.
https://www.festoolusa.com/products...and-sanding-blocks-and-abrasives/495019---d21,5-x-5m-hsk#Overview

I have that same 22mm(that is the dimension used here) non-AS for my hand sanding blocks. It is great. The 27mm hose seem still being available in the old ribbed AS green, but only sold pr. M with no adaptors or ends. I have one of those, and have used it often for sanding, it’s very nice for that task being light. Could be that Festool having something up their sleeve? A light AS hose has definitely its place. There’s many tools that don’t need any larger diameter hose..

Well Festita, I decided to take a look at the 22mm covered hose and the 21.5 mm non-AS hose and see if there was any chance of interchangeability.

I removed the parts from the end of the covered hose and...

[attachimg=1]

...placed them on the non-AS hose.

[attachimg=2]

Voila...

[attachimg=3]

There's a little bit of movement between the parts, probably .060" or less. But when you turn the vac on, the parts all get sucked together and there's no vacuum leaks. This really is a nice, light hose for doing vertical or overhead work and it's 5M long which is also nice. If I make up one of these for regular duty, I'll place an o'ring in between the hose end parts to take up the assembly slack.

Should have never read this post. I had a 150/3 ETS for years and replaced it with a 150/3 ETS EC and then added a 150/5 ETS EC. I never noticed a problem with the control or performance of the sander. Ha - but next time I use it I might  [scared].

Haha, each one better look out for themselves 😁 (I shall keep to myself that I found Metabo’s 3 new 12V finish sanders interesting..)

Thorough as always Cheese, thanks!
I’ve yet to try that one, but now I know. The hose I had in mind was actually quite a bit wider than I remembered - I’d never put them aside, until now.

Caliper measuring OD. The grey hose going to the blade guard in the background is the same as the old 32?mm AS. Never ever do the numbers add up. I measured the sleeved hose, same as your here Cheese, mine is 5m (I think the longest one 7,5m are wider still) OD is approximately 27 and 32mm.
A company have started importing the Centec hose kits and adaptors, I’m ordering this to have to my other non Festool or Metabo (Metabo thankfully more or less uses the same machine diameter)

Got these photos for comparison, swinged the boom arm around to include the old AS 36mm hose side by side with the other two too.

Just remembered, a while ago I found a distributor here that sold hose wraps that was in fabric.
These where marketed by dealers of and toward domestic central vac systems. These came in lengths up to 9m if I remember correctly.

EDIT: Found it: «Vacsoc Zipper» - with zipper all the way it seems.
The bug here is that the shortest is 9,5m, so unless one have someone who can do some sewing and zipper work or long hose, it’ll be wrinkle snake…

- There’s also a “Soft Touch” hose wrap w/o zipper.

Just a tip if you are in the market for making your own sleeved hose with a Plug It cable integrated.
I find these webbed synthetic unpleasant to handle - they do best at cable management for outboard rigging on vessels.

what is that two tone end on the silver hose?  someone that has a 3d printer and the small hose needs to come up with a nice compact end that will fit on the festool cleantec

It’s an air flow control valve. Because this tubing ID is so small, even with the CT set to minimum, it can still be too much vacuum and the pad gets stuck against the wall.

[member=55948]kiblerjd[/member] I've been using my ETS EC a lot the past day. I have the hose suspended above me, and I hold it out to the side with my left hand while I sand with my right. This is to remove any drag it might put on the sander causing it to want to tip one way or another.

Yea, but is it a Festool part or a aftermarket/3d part?  and does it fit onto the cleantec port?

So, I found a pic of the 2 tone adaptor here installed on the HSK-A hand block but I'm unfamiliar with the hand block so Im not sure if it shares the cleantec port like the other sanders.  Or is it something different.  Plus the photo shows a 27mm hose plugged onto it and doesnt even show the 21.5mm hose.  Its a little confusing

The hand blocks come with a rubber bushing, so you can use the larger hose.  Better pic on Amazon-

The rubber adaptor also comes with the HSK blocks. Just as the in-line air bleed valve (green ring)

Yep, the 115x226 is a very versatile size. I got two.. they came with a great deal that involved my WCR 1000 and plenty other odd Festool stuff.
It’s easy to get consumables to them too, with correct hole spacing even.
A plan is to route in one upside down in a workbench for small piece fine sanding.
