Is it possible to use a converter to be able to utilize the european tools?

You need to use a step-up transformer. A simple adaptor will be insufficient.

we have 110 volt festools in the uk not sure if they are 50/60 cycle motors you would not have a warrantee [eek]

I believe all festools are 50-60 Hz so frequency is not an issue here.

Why not call their 1 800 service number in North America and asking them.  They must know the answer to this, as it must have happened that someone moves from there to here and needs to know.

I have seen a few UK guys using 110v US Festools here with no problems so i would think if you bought 110v UK stuff it would be fine over your side too.

The one thing I would really like is the Vac sys set, as far as I can tell it only comes in 240V.  I know the guy who made the domino guide has one (youtube his video) and as has been mentioned on here before the festool training place in lebanon also has one. I am wondering if it is specially made for them or if they are using a converter.

In answer to the points above, I had the exact same conversation with David at Festool's customer service about bringing a UK vac sys over to the US. The conclusion was that a step-up transformer would work fine with a 230V vac sys. I do not believe you can get a 110V vac sys. Other Festools are available in 110V, yes, but not a vac sys.
