I am in the process of putting in the last Azek extension jambs in my windows (covered porch). Some of the windows have a bow in them (vinyl) others have a taper and I need fix this before I put on the casing. Any suggestions on the best way to do this? I did a test run using a belt sander and that is not the answer. I was thinking about a RS 2 E and block plane. Would a power plane be better? Thanks!

I'm not sure exactly where the problem is (some pictures would help) but I think you're talking about bad installations in vinyl window frames.

All the ones I've messed with were either hollow (cheap ones) or wood with vinyl covering (more expensive) either type would not benefit from being cut, planed, or sanded.

I'd look at cutting the Azek to fit and cover the existing problems.

Hope this helps

Steve,

Thanks for getting back to me. I do not need to cut the actual window. Windows came without and extension jambs so I had to do my own. I made them out of Azek. I put in a Rebate so it fits into the groove on the window frame. Where the jamb extends into the room I need to cut them back to fit. It is a row of windows (set of 4 and a set of 3) that will have a continuous molding across the top. There is only 3" between the windows and the wood between the windows is all over the place. I will try and get some pics. tonight.
