Can anybody tell me what the thickness is for an external door frame to suit a 1 3/4" (45mm) thick front door. the application is for a pivot door approx. 92 inches(2340mm) high and 47 1/4"(1200mm) wide.

If I'm understanding your question properly, the door jamb should be as thick as the wall framing plus all of the substrates (drywall/plaster, plywood sheathing, etc). Hope this helps.

If you're asking about suitable support, then 6/4 (38mm) to 8/4 (50mm) for overall thickness is usual for exterior doors depending on manufacture or site made.  Regardless, for all doors (especially for the size door that you are proposing) I would think it equally if not more important that you have secure fastening of the hinge side jamb to the house framing despite any thickness of jamb/frame you use.
