Hi all,

I'm new to the forum, I've used festool for a number of years and today I bought an M-Class extractor, the Festool CTM36EACHD,

anyway I had a quick play in the workshop before I left tonight, inserted the fleecy bag and plugged in a router, turned the machine on, as it started to suck it made a crunch noise and kinda took a breath in, all the casing seemed to be sucked in for a second or so then it released, carried on and then did it again... Has anyone come across this problem or is it something I could be doing wrong.

P.S. I've been looking at youtube videos and the ones on there show the filter undeneath the lid, I don't remember seeing one in mine but I was only briefly having a go and was in a rush. Could this be the problem (no HEPA filter)

Thanks in advance

David

the filter should ship already installed. I believe you are experiencing the Auto Clean function. You can adjust how often it cleans with one of the dials on the front.

Hello and Welcome
If using with the selfclean bag then AC will be ineffective as the dust is trapped by the bag. If using for applications were there is a lot of fine dust use the plastic base liner in the machine and then the AC will do the job to keep the filter clean. When using the extractor for very fine dust such as concrete grinding or dry wall filler then the AC should be used to keep the filter clear.....a bag will clog with the fine dust. So every 10 seconds the AC will kick in and you will hear/see the bang, the filter will be open to the dust so it needs to be kept clean.....such as this

....and some more is shown here...

The CTM36 E AC HD is supplied with a blast gate for the front of the machine. If using with fine dust and using AC close this off every 30mins and the machine will automatically give its self a deep clean. You can also clean the filter before starting work by squeezing the 'on' switch to the left or right fully - you will hear the AC 3 times and it will be ready for work.

...if it is used with the bag then turn the AC off and away you go.

I am travelling through out this week but any questions post here and I will get back to you
