I did this project last summer and had a lot of fun with it. The customer bought the cast iron online and had it shipped to my shop. When it was delivered it looked like it had been under water! I ran it thru the sandblaster, sprayed it with about 5 coats of black lacquer, hand painted  all the lettering, and then 3 coats of clear to lock it all in. If you must strip paint (not sure why on that thing) a needle scalier is the way to go.
