Fall 2011 Sander Promotion - US & Canada Only

I'll likely be picking up an RO90

Well, I was expecting a little more excitement about this promo... No? What are everyone's thoughts? Like it, don't like it, going to take advantage of it, have no need for sanding because you like the rustic look, what?  [big grin]

Personally I would love to pick up a sander - RO90 - but the weather is kicking my bank account now.  As for sandpaper, well when I bought my Rotex I dropped over $600 in sandpaper and paper storage systainers.

Maybe a weather break and financial recovery will be in order - or I will have to buy several more sanders to complete my ark in a timely fashion  [eek].

Forget the backspace key.  I need a backstroke key on my computer.

What about promo for RS-2 abrasives/accessories?

No RS 2 E this time around. The promo is for round pad sanders only, excluding the LEX air sanders.

Shane Does this mean we get !0% of a sander then another 10% off a sander, dust collector package deal?

Package deals, in the U.S., normally offer a discount of 10% from the dust extractor only. During the promo, you will get 10% off the extractor and the sander.

I would be more excited if you include the deltex.

The RO 90 is the Deltex plus a lot more. It's a lot more powerful and offers extreme versatility. Maybe worth considering since the price difference is pretty small with the discount during the promo. If you have your heart set on the Deltex, you can still stock up on pads and abrasives for it, since they're included in the promo due to their compatibility with the RO 90.  [wink]

I would have been a lot more excited about it 6 months ago when I got the RAS115 and ordered the RO90.  ::)  I will get some paper though.

For me, I've already got all the round/orbital sanders in the lineup I need (5!).  For how awesome they are and make for cleaner work area and cleaner lungs, they were worth full price.  I have no regrets.  10% off is just a cherry on the frosting on the cakey goodness.

I need a broader selection of RAS paper, soo... I'll have to take a look.

Looking for experience and feedback:  how long do the interface pads last?  I got a RO90 interface pad to strip and refinishin a rocking chair for my folks.  I have a few other pieces that will also need some attention and refinishing.  Is the interface pad good for more than one project?  I just got it the other day and while it is perfect (in its squishiness) I wonder how it will hold up to a few hours of use.

Thx in advance.

I plan on buying an ETS 150 sander and, depending on how much new tires for the truck end up costing, maybe one of the RAS sanders too. I have a RO 150 and RO 90 but I'm still undecided how much I would use a RO 125.

Another impacted by the weather (water damage), or I may have considered the 150/3.

The one that is really on my list though is the LS 130, which isn't on this one.

Really though, I don't think I'd even do that right now.

Once again, 10% doesn't get me to pull my wallet out. No excitement, no big deal. No great reason to stock up. Our local sales tax is basically 10%. Sorry Shane, for 10% there are far better things I can do with the money, like keep it. Minimum for me is 15%-20%.

order online, no sales tax 10% plus sale 10% and there you have your 20%  ;)
But ditto, 10% usually means very little to me. I'm sure however they bank on the fact that since they rarely have sales it's appears to be even more of a value

That's ok, Markus. I'm ok with you paying full price after the promo.  [poke] Kidding, of course.

It's up to the individual to decide if 10% is enough savings to justify a purchase they've been considering. That translates into between roughly $20-50 on the sanders alone. Plus, the opportunity to snag some abrasives, which are always getting used up. Plus, abrasives systainers, pads, and other accessories is a bonus.

Guys, remember, if you don't already have a Festool CT Dust Extractor, those of you in the U.S. can get 10% off the CT also when purchased as a package with one of these sanders at participating dealers.

Can I offer you a C12, C15, T18, CT 48, Centrotec Set, or Zobo Forstner Bit Set?  [wink]

Yeah, make it 50% and you've got my attention!  [big grin]

Seriously, not to look a gift horse in the mouth, but 10% is just not a big motivator for me either.

i dont think 10 % will make someone  decide to buy a sander. it will make them buy it now if they have already justified and decided they are getting it. once i have justafied a tool (especially festool) the cost is irelivent because you already decided you need it [wink]. if i could use this offer it would not make me buy anything that i already didnt need.

+1.
I might buy a box or two more sand paper if I was already committed to a purchase but otherwise no.
I would guess that pros are less sensitive to price changes because of inelastic demand ( a necessity - required for the job), whereas a hobbyist can take advantage of them (discounts) because of a more elastic demand. A hobbyist could rationalize a purchase now to save in the future, for a pro, its excess inventory and sunk cost, loss of cash flow with the additional cost of having to pay for space to store it.

I don't think 10% is a big deal either, 20% I imagine would produce a bunch more sales. But since I was about to purchase one anyway it comes in handy for me now!

Were it not for the water situation I might reorder Festool purchases that were already on my list in order to leverage the savings, but I can't afford it right now, even at 10% off.

Great sale, bad timing... at least for me.

Personally I like saving money no matter what the savings and 10% is still 10%.  Sandpaper does not take all that much room to store and it does not go bad over time, so why not take advantage of saving some money now?  The cost will only go up over time anyway.  Pads wear out over time too and it is a good idea to keep a few spares on hand for when that eventuality happens.  It is not uncommon to drop hundreds of dollars on paper, so why not save a little money in the process?  I suppose I understand it from a business perspective when cash-flow might prevent it if there was not an immediate need, but if you have the funds/room available it seems like a great time to buy and stock up.

Just my $.02.

Can someone explain how this promotion works in Canada when you combine one of the sanders with a CT26. I am told you get 10% off qualifying sander and only 5% off the CT26. Does anybody know if this is correct.
