I must have missed something... there's now a Festool "Essentials" book? is this to fill the gap that their manuals don't fill? I have to pay $30 for a book for my $3500 of tools... because the maker can't print a manual?

Sadly this seems to be the method du jour  ---- buy a $7000 ACAD package and you're left with finding a  decent manual on your own ---"where have all the manuals gone"  ----> the cry of the day.

The books are less than $20 at amazon.com.

How do the store bought "Essentials" books Compare to Brices kapex review or Matthew's RO 150 review, both are excellent.

It seems whatever is in the book someone else can present here just as well for free. I have not seen the book, are their any surprises. Sounds like they are charging for a combination manual promotional flyer that possibly should be free with purchase.

Ok, regarding the Festool Essentials book. It was not commissioned/done by Festool - it is a third party book. I have not seen it yet, but Festool has "commissioned" very, very thorough and excellent manuals on the Domino by Jerry Work and Rick Christopherson and they are free for taking.
The price listed is "suggested list", but in this area, dealers do have total flexiblity regading pricing. ;) ;D ;)

I thought the info from existing members would be as good or better, for free. Well I guess Rick  might not be a member anymore?

Nick,

Not sure what you mean, but I haven't yet gotten the book, let alone read it. But, there is plenty of info out there as stated - Jerry Work's, Rick C's, Brice's, John L's and many others.
I guess there are lots of Festool owners would don't visit the forums and this may be aimed primarily at them.

What I mean: why pay for something we have for free already, written by qualified individuals we know. I have seen excerpts and some of it is already incorrect on the Domino because of the Pin changes.

Obviously its for people who do not come to the forum, but I am sure (if not already) a reviewer(possibly the reviewer nickao)  on Amazon will direct people to the forum instead of buying the books. 10.00 free ship  sounds like the right price to me, not 29.00 or even 20.00.

As I  stated, Dealers do have discretion regarding pricing.

Uncle Bob,  Question on the apron,  does it come with or without pockets?  Oddly,  I have a hard time finding aprons without pockets.  I find they only fill up with sawdust....of course, only with non-festool tools.  ;)

Yes, looks like they have pockets.

Sorry, I should have responded to this sooner.  Hey, those owners should be asked to join the forum!  From what I can tell, the information in the books is available here in the FOG.  Not only that, but if they check here in the forum, they can ask questions about it and get real-time feedback!

So, how do we figure out who would be interested in the books, and get them to join the forum?

Stay in touch,
Matthew
