Fastedge is easy!

wow the kids are efficient! are they for hire?  [wink]

that is much faster than the iron applied edgetape I often use.
i wonder if the bond lasts?
i have plenty of 14 year old casework around that i edged with iron-on edgemate hardwood edgetape that is still in perfect shape.
applying it is time consuming.
does the fastedge bond have good longevity?

Nice, what a great team!

I just bought a load of unfinished cherry Fastedge for my own kitchen. Going to start on it next week. I have never used it and am excited to try it out. I too have always used iron on. It was also a great excuse to get the fastedge accessories, i love a good excuse to buy tools. My boy is only 9 months so, it might be a while before he runs some fastedge.

I have had good results with FastEdge.  Havn't had any call backs on it.  I know some people love it and some hate it. From what I understand the the  adhesive is basically CA (superglue).  It is really sticky so handle with care when peeling and applying. I have found that I get the best bond by rolling between each step.  I use the Virutex end trimmer, FastCap roller (works really well) , FastCap  edge  break sander , FastCap carbide edge trimmer.

Stick it on... roll

Trim ends ..... roll

Trim edge  .... roll

Sand edge .... roll

Sounds tedious but if the tools are all at hand it goes fast and gives a good bond.

I especially like using the prefinished  when I am using prefinished plywood. Just makes the whole deal a big time saver.

Totally agree Seth, I don't think I will ever go back to iron on,  Fastedge pays for itself in time. Esp. handy on site.

Those kids are too efficient, and would put a lot of folks in the trade to shame. Come on own up, how much pocket money to they earn??? And how quick can they to a full kitchen???  ;D

A pair of toggle clamps mounted to the bench make it real fast and easy to keep  the piece from slipping around. Really helps when doing a stack of parts.

Does anyone know if FastCap Fastedge is available in the UK? Perhaps under a different brand name?

I've searched before when I saw it used it another member's project but was unable to find a stockist.

Ask for Stuart Lane at Isaac Lord, High Wycombe. 01494 462121, they stock some Fastedge and Fastcaps.

You are not kidding, I rely on them more than some employees! [blink]

They do quite ok, part of having a family business is that they get a cut. [big grin]

Can't tell, its a trade secret / competitive advantage! [thumbs up]

I've used Fastedge with good results many times. I've recently switched to EdgeCo and I've found it to be a much better product. The adhesion seems better, not to mention they way more color options available. Just call them or go online and you can match just about anything in PVC. They also have wood available

thaks for the info everyone, ill try some of this out, plus the edgeco thick ede looks interesting.

edging is quite a bottleneck in cabinetmaking unless you have a production machine for it, so its nice to see some innovation here for small/medium size shops.

now, i just need to hire some of those kids who seem to work as fast as i can, and smile more often!
