Fastfix LED light review

I purchased two Fastfix LED's for my T series drills. These lights have not even lasted as long as the AAA batteries.  They are cheaply made and will not tolerate normal working conditions.  For the $50 I have spent, I could have had several headband lights, numerous flashlights, which would have offered more light and would have been reliable.
Because it says "Festool", I should have been able to expect a higher standard, otherwise, it is just another throw away tool, usually made in China.
FOOL ME ONCE, SHAME ON YOU

Should of asked me before you bought it!  I would of sent you mine!   As you said its Crap not worth £1  not even worth 50p  I would go to say maybe not even worth 10p!    I wouldnt even bother with it if I got it for free!  Oh wait I got mine for Free!  and if I find mine will throw it away in the bin!   Im glad I got mine free when it was released ages ago.  What a pile of CRAP!

I got one in a "we're sorry this isn't the latest T18 model" kit ... The price was ok and for my needs on a T18 the "proper light" wasn't important. (Australia is a bit of a hole for old inventory in the supply chain some times).

Festool need to be careful - a new customer's first experience can blemish the entire brand. If it's not brand worthy don't do it ... and never let a marketing department influence technical product development (yeh - there's some unrelated personal baggage in that last snip).

Huh? You got a T18 without the light? I thought there was only one model of the T18? Don't you mean the T15 or T12?

When it first hit the stores I looked at it but was deeply shocked about the price of €34. I mean, I know it's Festool, but come on, you can find these type of lights in the store for €3 to €5! If it was €15 I would have bought one. But now I'm glad I haven't bought it. Don't think I would have used a lot anyway. Wouldn't mind trying one out though if it was free.

I got mine free and what a waste of a freebie that was! I could of had a different freebie!  It's that crap!

When I first got it through the post and opened it up.  I looked at it and thought seems okay! Not very bright but it will do!
Soon noticed it only fits on the drill using the centrotec! You had to remove it when using the normal chuck or angle chuck or offset chuck!  Though man that sucks!

Then found the big lump where ever you stuck it top side bottom would often get in the way and hit an edge of a board or something as it just stuck out so much from the drill!

So I kept it at the bottom of the drill but having it on the bottom i would often switch the dam thing on or off with out noticing AND cus it was not a  very bright light I would often place it down not realising it was still on!  I would then come back and the battery would be dead!

Because I had to remove it all the time when using a different chuck i often would not have it to hand and then when I needed the light i would have to get up and fetch the dam thing! I end up just using my mobile phone light as that was much brighter and always have that in my pocket!

Welcome to Australia ... the inventory anus of the planet ... Yes - it's an 18, I'm not in any way confused with the reading of numbers ... 30 years in a high technology field has given me extreme competency in the numbers 2, 5 and 8.

Didn't mean to imply anything. Just very surprised to hear there's an old type T18, I thought they were all made in the updated design with light and battery gauge etc. Mustn't have been more than a couple of months on the shelves. Pretty silly of Festool to change the design so quickly after introducing a new model, must have cost them quite a bit in molds.

No wukkers.

The obvious tell tale was the T18 being in an old style systainer - I even had the conversation with the dealer ... my choice was buy from overseas, wait for new stock or have what was available ...
