So I'm doing a project where I have resawn some 12/4 mahogany and I am going to make some book matched doors out of it. I played around with some finishes today trying to find something I like with all the odds and ends of stains and oils I had laying around. I couldn't find anything I liked except when I sanded to 1,000 grit and applied a natural teak oil. The problem though was I want a little deeper color so I tried to add some stain to the oil but it just didn't give me the results I've had with other woods

I am looking for a little bit deeper of a natural brown but to still have the red tones mahogany has. Any ideas what would be a good stain/oil to use. I would like to stay away from dies.

Sherwin Williams BAC. It must be spray top coated, not brushed.

Try Watco oil.

I've had a lot of success with Waterlox.  Great interior finish and very durable.  I used it on my cherry dining room table >10 years ago and it still looks like it did when I first put the table in the dining room.

Old Masters gel stains have some nice tones for mahogany. Prep sanding doesn't need to be as high as 1000.

As MrGinnCt mentioned, Waterlox is a good choice for interiors also.

If there is a dealer near you Rubio Monocoat is an oil product with lots of selection. Its applied with a single coat not like teak oil or Waterlox. I haven't found another product that works as well.

I tried from 180-1000 grit and found that the 1,000 grit gave the grain the better pop.
