I took the plunge into the Kapex and another ct 26 and the 10% discount was a part of my decision. I placed down my 1965.00 dollars or so on the 22nd of February.

Still no Kapex and not even an excuse from my dealer. The best they could come up with is there has been snow. It is a maximum of a 2 day trip from Indiana to P.A.. It hasn't snowed that much!

Sad sad  sad service on Festools part! What else does one say?

So here I sit 2 weeks later and no saw. The 140.00 saved was NOT worth the joke of a wait and I still can not get date on it's arrival to the dealer. [mad]

My dealer did tell me that if I had a job to do I could take theirs and use it. Appreciated but, I have my 12" Dewalt sliding compound miter that I was looking forward to never using again unless it was for a beater job.

Ever think the containers may have been delayed?  Maybe the sales exceeded their projections?

I have had to wait 2 months on things I have ordered before

I believe there may have been a very high sales volume and some backorder taking place. I don't know for sure but that is what I think.

I know a couple people on other forums that ordered a Kapex and they indicated they wouldn't be getting until march due to back orders.

Look at some of the different dealers websites. The Kapex is backordered, the attachment knobs, the cart and the wings are also backordered. It seems like anything and everything that revolved around Kapex is backordered. Just a lot of people taking advantage of a 10% discount. Then throw in the weather and the dock workers strike...a perfect storm.

ya im still effected from this kapex sale, went looking for clamps and all back ordered.

I placed my online order for a Kapex, UG stand, extensions, and 80-tooth blade early during the sale on Feb 5th and everything was shipped the next day via UPS. From the east coast to California, I received everything mid-morning on Feb 11th. I apparently was able to avoid the backorder delays by ordering early during this popular sales promotion.

I ordered some blades and they came in nice and fast i did order first week of the sale though.

I ordered a replacement Kapex last week, told it would be a couple of weeks, no problem man, I'm going on a cruise next week and a couple of hockey games,,,,,,,

I'm certainly one to blast Festool when they deserve it - and they might be be guilty of underestimating the market - but as far as delivery they might just be the victims of the dockworkers slowdown (that is now verging on a strike). It is affecting the shipment of lots of things and causing a boatload - pun intended - of problems.

Don't know this for a fact, but it could be a reason...

I ordered my Kapex, Midi and 80 tooth blade around the 12th of February, received the blade in about 3 days. The rest was back ordered for maybe a week. Still think I had it all by around the 24th. Was in the middle of all that when I heard about everyone's issues with back orders. Try and look at it in the sense, all good things take time, and trust me, the Kapex is worth the wait.

And Dunn wood, did I hear the word Hockey mentioned!! [two thumbs up]

Luckily for me I bought my Kapex years ago.  One disadvantage of foreign manufactured tools is that there is a significant shipping time.  Let's face it, all companies who were affected by the economic times of a few years ago learned to not stock as much inventory.  So when either a blip in the system or high demand causes inventory to run low the time to restock can be measured in weeks rather than days.

Then throw in crappy weather on the east coast which will slow down unloading and inland transit and there will be some additional waits.

But based on previous situations I can assure you that once the items come in Festool busts their collective rumps to get the product out of their distribution center.

This probably will not make those waiting for a Kapex or Kapex accessory feel any better, but it might help offer a possible explanation from an outsider looking in.

Yep. Can't get tickets here so have to go to Florida to see our team. Run for the playoffs [big grin]

[member=28389]Woodhack[/member], sorry that your Kapex delivery is being delayed. I had posted in another thread about this. We have experienced some backorders due to high demand. Your dealer should be able to provide you updates on the status. The last time I checked, it looked like the majority of the backorders would be filled by this week on our end.

The back order list that I have access to has said ETA pending on the Kapex stuff for a long time now...

Is that just out of date?

Tom

Tom,

If you want to email me privately about where you're seeing that ETA, please do so. I'm not aware of anywhere that we publish ETAs for dealers currently. You can call the sales team and they can give you a sense of timing, but it's not a perfect date because of the variances in receiving inbound freight. Even we just have estimates most of the time.

I will say that there are a considerably higher number of Kapex orders in our system than the last time I looked about a week ago. Since orders are handled FIFO, it really depends on when your dealer ordered with us to give an estimate for when they will receive product. Again, I would suggest contacting your dealer, who can get in touch with us for an estimated date.

Again, sorry for the inconvenience for anyone experiencing a backorder. Dealers should honor rainchecks on the promotional pricing if you ordered prior to the end of the promotional period.

Going into week 4.

I haven't been back to the FOG since this post but, I see there are plenty of Festool sycophants telling me I am the problem for expecting something I purchased to be in my possession in a timely manner.

One of my favorites is from Cochese who thinks I should go through getting my money back from woodcraft then go online, order from Amazon then take the day off to sign for delivery if delivery is so important to me. Any chance I should bank on getting the product I paid for when I paid for it? Yeah I know stupid thought on my part expressing such a radical idea. Maybe Festool should go on Amazon and buy their saw for me and ship it to Woodcraft if there are some sitting in the USA?

How about any of these ideas.?
1:Festool provide us with the number of saws you sold if it was sooooooo many. I have a REAL hard time with this attempt at covering for them. I did not see the doors at Woodcraft being kicked down for Kapex saws. I think they sold 4-6.
2:Festool explain exactly how the stuff is shipped and where it is sitting in port somewhere (due to worker strike)as one of the sycophants suggested so.
3:Festool actually communicate with my dealer on where it is. They have not due to their ARROGANCE as a company who has their customer by the nads because we bought into their system.
4: Festool actually own up to their horrible mistake they made (if they sold SOOOOO many saws and didn't forsee it) by offering something related to the product purchased to make up for the SAD SAD service? I predict they wont because of the Arrogance I spoke of above.
5: As stated above. If Amazon has them for 2 day delivery get some back and get them to your customers! I will blame it on the Arrogance again.

Anyway I am not a complete dick! I understand things happen especially when buying products like this but, this is the year 2015! There is NO reason the saws can not be in the customers possession somehow after 3 weeks. There are too many options for delivery.

I know this experience (along with the barrel grip Carvex but, that's another thread) has broken my buying streak and has me rethinking my next couple of tool purchases as there are other quality makers out there for other things like oscillating multi tools, router tables and so on and so on. Life can be lived without festool!

off to work...

These lead time are not to bad. I ordered a kitchen sink on 1/5/15, lead time 3-5 days, no sink in 2 weeks, contact supplier, 4-6 weeks due to manufacturer delays, no sink as of today, last email stated with the delays end of May or sometime in June. Explain that to your customer, only saving grace is she picked the sink.

Tom

Sorry to read about your displeasure.  In reading the posts from festool in this thread and other threads regarding backorders I have yet to detect arrogance in their posts.
