Fein Versamag vise

Ya that's interesting...3-4 months ago when Trick Tools first announced the release of Versamag, their introductory price was $489, now we're in the $450 region.  [cool]

I have a Groz drill press vice, they are remarkably high quality for the price. Really nice finish.

Can't get my wallet around the cost of the Fein setup, or Magswitch for that matter. I also think the location of the Fein locking handle will get in the way a lot if used for anything other than the vise.

Has anyone used a cheap surface grinder magnetic chuck to secure a drill press vice? The holding power looks to be a lot lower than the Magswitch setup but cost is perhaps 1/3 depending on size.

After seeing this in use I had to revise my opinion.

The vise is in use around 3:15, 7:25 & 8:00.

Got me lusting after it now.

Ya, it's pretty versatile, especially for long vertical work holding.

This guy lays down some nice weld beads.

Also a very clever way to turn a square into a round. I've done this before with wood using a band saw but never considered metal.

A small accessory could be added to your 12" disc sander jig Richard, to produce round parts.

Great idea, added to the project list.

I have an ER20 collet holder on the way, 20mm diameter shaft. It'll get adapted to that jig somehow so I can make precise length pins and tapered ends. A circle jig would round it out.
