Hi there experts,
Looking at Felder K540s, 2800 slider, the big blade looks useful, as I do solid wood and ply but after having a MM SC2 forever I may be simply in love with the idea of the K540s, is my heart taking over. ?
Keen on the best accuracy and reliability I can afford, the Xroll table gets good raps.
Any thoughts ? I have maxed out the budgets so can not go to 700 series.
What would be Minimax equivalent ?
My first post, I do have lots of Festool stuff well worn in, but so in need of a decent slider.
Grateful advice.

I think the 500 and 700 range(which I own) share the same crucial mechanical elements, thought the overall build is lighter on the 500.
The main advantage of the 700 is the ability to have electronic settings.

You can't really go wrong with MM, but you'll likely lose the dado ability, which in my eyes is a major feature to lose once you're used to it.

the 500 series is basically a Hammer with the upgraded x-roll slider.  The "real" Felder series starts with the 700.

The K540 is an oddity, it has basically a Hammer chassis which is counterbalanced with a large piece of concrete along with a modified double trunnion of the 700 series with a xRoll slider. I had a K500S as my first slider and it was OK. I've had a K700S Pro since 2010 and it has been great.Personally if finances are a problem either lease to own or look for a good used 700 series. If you have a constant need to cut material that is over 4" thick would be my only reason for getting the K540.

Have you considered used Altendorf/Martin?

Personally if I am in the market for a saw I seriously would spend a little more and get an ex display or slightly used Altendorf/Martin
