Festool 2020 news

They had really better bring that table saw stateside.  [big grin]
Erika is nice but too rich for most people’s blood. The jobsite Sawstop is about $1500.
It wouldn’t take much convincing to pay up to the Festool.

Speaking of price, I’m disappointed with the impact.  I thought they were planning to be more competitive there?  Nonetheless, I’m looking forward to trying it out.  With an impact back in the ranks, Festool 18v lineup does cover about most of my cordless needs (no recip saw).  Insert a Godfather quote about dragging me back in. [big grin]

Unfortunately, the video does not show the whole loop from start to finish, hence I couldn't tell how practical the tilting function is for a large sheet. Are the front castors locked when the titling is done?

Yes they are.

Question for those in Europe,  is sheet goods 3100 x 2150 a thing?  ~10ft by 7ft?

Yep, a lot of sheet material is available in 3050 x 2120, so that size makes sense.

EDIT: Oops, just noticed this has been answered. Sorry.

Here are some of the new products:
- FS-WA rail 90 degree angle jig (copy of TSO?)

YES, friends, the FS-WA/90 Festool Guide Rail Square for the international market (only) is the result of a licensed collaboration with Festool GmbH. It is produced in volume in Germany based on our engineering documentation and equipped with the TSO Latch we tooled up and began using in the US last year - but of course the international version from Festool has the FESTOOL GREEN handle [smile].

Interesting, that seems like a good move for you at TSO.
Will the Festool version be fully compatible with your accessories ?

[member=26680]wheely[/member] - the Festool version is completely interchangeable with our TSO branded GRS-16 PE guide rail square and functions seamlessly with our accessories.

Wow, the availability of the guide rail square from Festool was something I didn't expect.  Congrats to TSO and well done Festool!  It's probably my most used 3rd party accessory for my Festools.  Making it available across the globe for all users is terrific!  And the addition of the threaded holes suggests more good things to come!

[member=21249]RKA[/member] - great team effort by Festool GmbH working with us to make it happen!

The tapped accessory holes have been a standard feature for quite some time - and now used with our Parallel Guide System. They can easily be added to earlier tools with the help of our $ 6.00 GRS-16 Series Upgrade Drill Fixture (SKU 61-354 A) for accurate hole placement.https://tsoproducts.com/tso-guide-rail-squares/grs-16-series-upgrade-drill-fixture/

Thanks all, I've seen giant stuff being shown at the factories that make it, like IKEA's PB factory, but it goes to another giant factory.  I get how it can be useful, but in a large scale plant.  Taking those to job sites or for small one-ish person outfits is a bit hard to see. Of course it could be they are targeting making that very issue more manageable.  Still, a smaller size table  one would be nice if the size is driving cost/weight.

Love to see someone try to bring a sheet of 3050x2120 home from the lumber yard on the roof of their Golf.  [big grin]

Raj,
One of my GRS squares was a very early model that didn't have holes. I purchased the drill fixture Hans mentioned and easily/quickly added the tapped holes for use with the TPG parallel guide system.

The TKS 80 looks good. I just need to convert the Euros to Aussie dollars (and add 30%) and wait the best part of a year for it to become available here.

I have a complete CS 50 Trimming Saw setup which I enjoy using in conjunction with the TS55 and Kapex 120. I am guessing that the side and sliding extension tables and rip fence are not going to be compatible. (anyone know if they might be?)

But is the extra 30mm, and the saw stop technology, enough justification to swap it out? My father-in-law has lost a couple of cm off two fingers using a (non-Festool) bench saw, so maybe I can justify it. Wish me luck.

I’d guess that the sliding fence is the exactly the same that comes with the CS 50 SET and the CMS-VL/CMS-GE. If Festool haven’t gone to the woods I think that the new mitre fence is backwards compatible too. The “V”” profile seems to continue with the TKS 80. It would be very strange if they had gone a new route.

I AM having an OFF day. Made a mistake. The sheet goods size I meant to ‘say’ is 3050 x 1220 mm, which is just 2 feet taller than the ‘regular’ size (as in 10 by 4 and 8 by 4).

Really like the square format of the STM1800 ... anyone know the base footprint to the wheels? Looks something like a half sheet 1200mm X 1200mm

It is a curious decision to not put miter slots in the table saw. I think that would limit compatibility with off-the-shelf table-saw attachments.

Very interested in the STM 1800 but i just don’t understand the pricing of it.  At all.

Will be interesting to see the price of the guide rail copy and see if they double the price just because the festool name is on it.

The Festool and Mafell push-pull saws don't have miter slots.  These saws are designed for sliding tables you can put on the side if you need more travel than the pull function. Also not sure what "off the shelf" parts there would be, there is no standard for a miter slot design.

That's partly the idea.

Festool will sell you all the attachments you need.

3/4” x 3/8” and then whatever depth by 5/8” for home store jobsite saws.

Meanwhile, some of my fellow ‘muricans aren’t picking up on the fact that the rip fence is also a crosscut miter gauge fence.  You wouldn’t  need to buy an Incra because it already comes with the european equivalent.  For featherboards and diy crosscut sleds and whatnot...we can find a way.

Some saws may have a miter slot of those dimensions, all do not. There is no Standard, just a size that a lot of saws have used.  Also why would Festool make a slot in their tool to an inch based US design. There very well may be a different common dimension used in the rest of the world, or Europe, I can see folks complaining if the saw showed up with a metric based slot, or a dovetail shaped one or a inverted T shaped slot.

I guess it’s less about the size and more the presence of the slots. Various jigs and what not assume you’ve got the slots. While I can’t think of a jig I would want that needs them that isn’t covered by one of the nice Festool attachments, that doesn’t mean there isn’t one.

I have heard that these may NOT be available in North America? Any word on this ?

If you are asking about the Festool tables, it has been written here that there are no immediate plans to bring these to market in North America.

Got two of the new Systainer³ M Organizers with 22 containers.
They match perfectly with regular T-Loc Systainers (of course!).
Pitty there is no handle on top of the lid. Thus they always have to be under a T-Loc.
And in my opinion the Festool logo is upside down?
Though a very nice build systainer.
