Festool 488876 VS 600 Joining System

That has been discontinued here in the US for years.  In my opinion is never gained traction with users.  There are other more versatile dovetail systems out there.

Seemed like a good system but I never was able to see or try one before they were discontinued. As Peter said, there are other dovetail jigs which perform well, like various Leigh models, Porter Cable Omnijig (if it's still sold). It really depends on what you want to do with dovetails. If you want to do just standard equally spaced dovetails, there are a lot of basic jigs available which I would guess  all produce about the same result. Variable spaced dovetails, both through and blind, can be done well and easily with Leigh jigs. I now use an Incra table with the Incra positioner for my dovetails, both blind and through. It works great, is very accurate, and relatively easy setup and execute.

I gave up on DT jigs. Though I bought only the cheaper ones small 12" PC was my last one.

Now I just use through dominos, easy fast and very strong.

I havnt done it yet but Im looking into taking a classon making hand cut DTs. For the actual amount of DTs I do and the time to set up the jig router bit etc, hand cuts IMO are faster for a few drawers.

Otherwise I go with the dominos

As Far as Festools jig, you can occasionally find one for sale in the classifieds here/ ebay/craigslist or just order one from Europe. There are companies that will ship to the USA.

Spend your money on a Leigh Jig.  The D4R-Pro will probably cost you around the same and it is a far super jig.
