Hi, I have a Festool DRG18/4 cordless drill, the batteries don't seem to charge/ hold the charge anymore, I have had it for over six years, and use it on a daily basis, so it  has done well,  I want to know if I should buy new batteries, or buy a completely new drill, batteries, and charger

Do you buy a new flashlight when your battery goes dead in yours?

I don't have that device, but if it works, then a new battery.  When it dies, you have an extra battery for the next one.

I agree with Packard; unless you need an excuse to buy a new tool, just get the batteries and/or charger, depending on the testing results.  If you get a new tool, don't get a new DRC/PDC, get something different but also with batteries that you can share.

If it's your only Festool cordless tool, it would be worth taking the batteries and charger to a local dealer to see if they have batteries and/or a charger that you can test, just to be sure.

If the charger itself has gone bad, buying new batteries won't fix the problem.

Thank you both for the replies, I thought the drill body might be knackered as well, I think I will buy 1 new battery first, that way I can test the drill body and also the charger, if both are okay then I will get a second battery

Batteries are so expensive on their own though. Might it be an excuse to buy a new battery operated tool that comes with two new batteries and another charger 👍

And if you’re money’s tight you can just sell the actual tool and keep the batteries, charger, systainer etc. .

If this is the tack to take, the T-18 E (Easy) with the fixed chuck is the winner in terms of value for the set version over the bare tool (USD 299 vs USD 199).  Not sure what the differential is across the pond.

There is also the newer/lighter 4.0 ah batteries that I like to use with my T18 and PDC 18/4.

T-18 E isn't available here.  NAONA, you might say.  Pity, as they'd sell like hot cakes I reckon.
