OK, this may seem a little silly, but how do you pronounce their names?  [embarassed] Especially Granat and Vlies ...

I'm not sure how they SHOULD be pronounced, but personally I've been pronouncing Granat like the rock with the similarly-spelled name, and Vlies like Flies with a different first letter...

[laughing]

Granat is more or less pronounced like the word Granite as previous poster said, with the difference that both a's sound like a long a like in the word Aperture instead of a short a like in the word Against.

Vlies is pronounced exactly like the word Fleece, you know, the fabric.

I was curious about the pronunciations recently since hearing Granat pronounced several ways.  Remembered Shane's post and also found this on the web.  Listen to the audio under "Polish" and "Pronunciation".

Granat

I get corrected locally on Granat ... it sound something like Granaaat when Rod at Northern Abrasives says it.
