I am a retired home hobby person and I have went crazy on the Festool purchases. I have purchase the track saw, extra track, Carvex, 1400 router, Domino 500, dust extractor, Rotek 150, and the MF table with all the accessories. I have to say, the Festool is so precise and fun to use. Be a hobby person, should I purchase the parallel system for cutting equal panels off of the guide rail system? I only make panels when I build a chest or shelving system.

Thanks.

I think that a parallel guide system is a wise investment.  That being said, you may want to consider after market systems.  A lot less expensive and perform just as well (and some would argue even better).

I can personally (and many others on here) vouch for the parallel guide rails from Precision Dogs  http://precisiondogs.us/products/precision-parallel-guides.

They are not the only one offering alternative parallel guides systems, and I'm sure others will recommend their favorite.

But bottom line, you should seriously consider  (any) parallel guide systems.

Your off to a good start, but If ya have to ask "should I buy" there is still hope for you. Your not totally addicted yet. You can still be rehabbed

I have the parallel guides and they work very good. I do woodworking as a hobby also. I have only used them once but I broke down 4 sheets of ply into a bunch of shelves for all the cabinets in our house and I was done in a couple of hours which includes setting up the guides the first time.

I like them. There's a few aftermarket accessories you'll see talked about on this forum too. Lots of choices [wink]

I have but think they are a bit cumbersome I'am guessing some of the after market ones would be easier to use and cheaper. I do think its good to have something for repeat cuts but not so sure the Festool ones are the way to go.

I went nuts too! I swear I have payed for a car by  now!
