Festool APS 900

Shane,

What about it or the method that makes it European specific?  When it comes to countertops.

I don't know a lot about counter top installation, so maybe it's not specific to Europe. I had just never seen a template like that used before, but I'm no counter top expert either.

I've been known to be wrong from time to time.  [embarassed]

Many of the laminate counter tops here have an integral backsplash built in and this product would not work.  From the videos and images here from countertops in Europe they generally do not have a backsplash attached, nor a rolled front drip edge.  I would assume that this would work on a rolled front edge top here without a backsplash if the entire thing was shimmed up to the height of the rolled edge (otherwise in the metered portion the bit would be cutting a compound miter / bevel).

For those of us who site fabricate a square front top with no backsplash or a separate backsplash this would be a niche / great product for us assuming that the jig can handle a normal US depth countertop.

i sure wish they would do a closed caption on these videos so that I could catch the details instead of the general idea...

It's a worktop jig. A counter is something you find in a shop. When you guys say fanny , that means something else here in Blighty as well.

as poster above identified it a worktop jig.
its used to join worktop pieces together(not gona get into detail since our german presenter explained it so well :) )
just a prob i got it and a reason while i still havent got one it only got 2 securing bolt space cutters... our company requires 3 to be fitted and move and re-measure process would be too painstaking since i do quite a few joints every week.

Ikea sells those countertops without backsplash. I don't like the integral backsplash it looks cheesy.

A decent quality worktop should only ever need 2 bolts - putting 3 in is a UK thing, and in mainland Europe you'd very rarely (never?) find 3 being used.

That said, with the Festool jig you can buy an additional keyhole piece & simply add it on - it's a system.
