Hello all!

I posted this in the classified section, but realize this may be a better place for this question...

I recently acquired a like new AEG 75mm belt sander. I'm really excited to start using it, but it needs the graphite platen replaced due to its age. I'm also looking for the dust extraction connector for it. I have found both of these items for sale on dealer sites across the pond, but haven't found a site that will ship to USA.

Looking for the following items:

- Festool 490823 Graphite platens
- Festool 490818 Dust extraction adapter

Does anyone have access to these parts in USA, or is there any kind member in Europe who can purchase these and send them to me?

Thank you!!

Your next step should be to buy/import a sanding frame.

Definitely! I have my eye on that.

Many thanks for forum member [member=7673]neeleman[/member] for helping me with the parts!!

Received the parts from [member=7673]neeleman[/member] - very thankful to him for the assistance!

The Festool parts are a direct fit onto the AEG sander. I have some belts on order and I'm looking forward to using it!

Does anyone know if the graphite platen is supposed to be adhered to the base of the sander, or does the pressure of the belt simply hold it in place?

You want the contact area of the belt to the work to be as large as possible. Therefore you want it to be as flat as possible. So don’t use the spring steel thing. Just use the graphite canvas and the steel binder strip and screws.

The graphite surface will quickly conform and yes the belt will keep it in place.

Thanks Michael. I don’t have a spring steel piece, it’s just the canvas backing of the graphite directly against the base, so it sounds like I’m ready to go.
