Hi and thanks in advance for any info:

Will the Festool Bluetooth Remote Control Set work with any Bluetooth tool (Makita specifically)?

Ray

I am still new to all of this but from what I have read, the BT is just an easy way to turn on the dust collector.  As long as you have your dust port from your tool, hooked up to the vac, you should be good to go.  Others will correct me if I am wrong.

I don't believe the BT prototols are the same between the brands of tools right now.  Perhaps that will change in time.

[member=72312]Rick Herrick[/member] - there are two ways to use the BT - there is a hose button that lets you remotely turn on/off the vac using BT.  There is also a BT battery option for the battery tools that will turn on the vac when the BT tool is turned on.

The plug for power in the vac does not need BT - it's tool triggered with a corded tool.

Thanks Neil, I guess you said it better than I did.  What I was trying to say/depict, was you could use any tool you want, just make sure the dust port on that tool was connected to the BT enabled CTx.  And I forgot to mention you need to hit the hose BT button or where ever you have the button installed/attached.  Does that sound any better ?

I suspect they wouldn’t. I think both Makita and Festool uses proprietary protocols to their Bluetooth devices. I hope this is not the future, and would love to see that these trigger signals can be cross paired between brands.

I hope that someone having both systems will give it a go tho.

I believe there's a thread on here that talks abou the inner workings of the BT module and has a link to the protocols.

Should you be inclined to make a workaround.
