Hey, I'm sure soon enough we'll be able to cut and paste from a tangible physical object and paste into the digital world.  Shane probably does already.  Friggin' nerd!

Well, I just spent the last 7 hours transcribing all the info from the catalog to create the Carvex Jigsaw pages.  Enjoy and let me know what questions you have and point out the (I'm sure of...) countless typos! lol

Wait, you mean it's not "teh"!!!??

Thank you

Is there a cordless vac for the cordless one?

How long are they, all of them and how much does each one weigh?

And when you are done with that.... [big grin]

Y'know after seeing that 3d replication machine, there might be a cordless vac somewhere.

I considered recreating the spec table and was like ehhhhh, it's time to go home.  Maybe tomorrow, and that's a strong maybe leaning toward the not happening side. ;)

Is there a price listed in the catalog?  I would be interested to know how much this puppy will run.  I've never been too happy with my Bosch 1590 and the Carvex might be just the ticket.

The Carvex doesn't yet have a hard launch date and as far as I know, has no established pricing.

We are on the verge of a 3D printing revolution that could easily rival the impact of the industrial revolution.

Good thing they can't print in wood though.... [big grin]

Haha, good point.  We'd all be in trouble.

Check out this video.  Love the song and always blown away by the video no matter how many times I see it.

An noted above, pricing hasn't been released.  I looked on the Festool UK site though, and the price delta between the Trion and Carvex is scary- the Carvex is just under twice the price of the Trion!  If that holds true over here, that's gonna put the Carvex in the $600 range........ [scared]

Bob,

It's not quite that simple. The cost of the Trion came down when the Carvex was introduced - it's now £236.40 (inc. VAT). True, the Carvex is nearly double that at £464.40, but that is for the full 'Set' version, with the accessory systainer & all the bases. The basic 'Plus' version without that accessory systainer is £302.40, which is about 28% more than the Trion at it's now reduced price.

Add to that the fact that about 3 or 4 years ago when I first looked at the Trion, it was exactly the same price as the CT Mini, which is now £306.00. Taking that into account, you could argue that the Carvex base model is actually cheaper than the Trion would have been had the Carvex not been released!

in all honesty, it's the base thing that is my one hang up with this saw. I'm not 100% confident in the angle base and am a little miffed that I would have to spend extra on the stand alone model just to cut a bevel with it. I have to hold the bastard, and know what the price is of the lot obviously before I make a decision, just how I feel right now.

Well let me add to that...

frankly, I'm not sure I get the whole Festool Jigsaw fascination thing. Yes, the dust collection is nice, but if I were to get one, that would be my ONLY compelling reason.

Why? Well, why else would I really care that much about a jigsaw? If I'm going to cut a straight line, I'm going to do it with the TS55 on a rail. Jigsaws aren't exactly known for producing a great cut. Or am I underestimating how good the Festool ones are? The TS55 can do that bevel cut as well.

Cut circles? Nope. I'm gonna do that with my router on a circle jig (or my microfence). Or I'll throw it on my bandsaw with the Incra circle jig attachment.

Can cut in tight areas? Well, If I'm building furniture, it's my job to make those cuts BEFORE assembly .

In the field? When I've used a jigsaw during installs, it's to cut holes for plumbing and electrical in the back of a cabinet. Maybe sink cutouts? Yeah, none of those need to be a nice cut, and my Bosch will do it just in fine in "non-orbit" setting.
In fact, attached is a picture of the only big use I've gotten our my bosch... and in this case it was priceless (I built and cut those "in place", not on the ground!)

Am I misunderstanding the importance of a jigsaw to the pro-installers here? Am I missing something?

Thanks.
