I love my Centrotec set -- one of the best purchases I have ever made...great having everything you need right there, all organized.  Awesome set and I hope Festool brings another one over here sometime in the future.

I'll let you all know what the real deal is next week. I'm back to Germany tomorrow and going to the Festool Dealer on Monday in Kaiserslautern. (Full shop). I'll get the full skinny and get back to you here.

I plan to purchase and send back to my home in Florida via the Military Mail System. (I'm also purchasing the Vacuum Clamp system)

Also looking for Logo items that aren't available in the USA like the clock.

Cheers

You'll probably want to seek out then mini socket set too then [smile]

The 2013 set, i was told by Festool employees, destined for users from other trades than pure woodworking. It's a very basic set destined more for painters or handymen that need to drill a hole or drive some screws occasionally on the job. And don't want to cash out more for all the specialized bits.
It's a limited edition and not a standard offer, the regular "2011" centrotec set is still sold as the standard set over here.

If going to k-town ... The Japanese garden is very nice
Going for a walk in the Pfalzer Wald is always wonderful
Going to the market on Tuesday morning is a great place to eat various cheese and sausage at the stands
If you can get directions to the Karstal just outside of Kaiserslautern it's a beautiful little valley to walk
I'm guessing you will be headed for the Vogelweh or Ramstein
Have fun, I'm jealous

Was stationed in K-town at the Kleber Kasern and lived on the Sembach AFB from 83-86.  I'm homesick.

I'm typing this in the Paris East train station awaiting the 200mph TGV in an hour to take me home to K-Town. Been in Nigeria for 7 1/2 weeks and cant' wait to see my 5 year old and wife.

Monday off to the Festool shop in K-town. Purchases to make!

BTW.... wife is LTC based in Ramstein. We live in a house in Thallichtenberg with a great view of the oldest castle ruins in Germany. Old time festival up there this weekend with knights and jousting tournaments, food, and crafts. We'll have fun!

Are you taking special orders?  I would love to have the socket set and router bit set.

You're not the only one homesick.  I was born in Landstuhl, raised in Belgium, and was stationed down near Karlsruhe many years ago.  I'd love to get back to Europe.  Seeing SittingElf's recent pics aren't helping!  ;)

Hadn't really thought about it. The dealer DID have both items above in stock, but I don't remember the pricing. I don't have to pay VAT, and they are giving me a 10% discount as well on my Festool purchases.  I'll be going back next week to pick up my Vacu-clamp system, accessories, and the Centrotec 2011 set... (#497628). I'll check the prices on the socket set and router bit set and let you know.

Cheers,

Frank

Here's a video of the "FULL" system and an explanation of the Centrotec system from Festool. (Shows the complete set and features)
