Can I use my $50 from the Pro 5 on a purchase?

Good question. No, we're not going allow PRO 5 vouchers. Because these on-site sales aren't really our focus, we're trying to simplify things as much as possible. (Anyone who had to stand in last year's line will understand why! :) )

Phew! May I state the obvious - Newak airport is not fun -  but.........CONNECT is more than worth it. See ya tonight/tomorrow.

Well connect 2017 is over  and as expected was informative and enjoyable.
It was also fun to be meeting up with some old friends and customers. And even the weather gods cooperated.  This was an awful lot of work on Festool's part and a big thank you goes out to all of the staff and management  for a job well done.

Thank you SO much to everyone who came to Festool Connect 2017! We're blown away by how many people traveled crazy distances for it. We hope that you enjoyed it as much as we did.

Many thanks [thanks] to Festool USA and all the great folks that made the FOG meet-up and the Connect happen.  They clearly worked their bumpers off all week and weekend to set up, man the stations, and then tear down today so that business as usual can take place tomorrow.  It was just delightful to see many old friends and meet new ones, and to see the new goodies all in one place.  [smile]

It has taken me a couple of days to recover from the whirlwind excitement I experienced from last Thursday thru Saturday night.  What an experience!  So many new people to meet at Festool, so many new Foggers to meet.  So many old friends to see and catch up with.

I have been doing this awhile and have had many great experiences and have met lots of exceptional people but here are just 2 of many experiences for me on Friday and Saturday.

Walking into the FOG event and instantly having a Member come over with a handshake and a brotherly hug.  I didn't have a name tag on or my special FOG shirt nor has there been a picture of me here on the FOG for quite some time.  To think that someone would remember was mind blowing.  Then to think that we only live about a hundred miles apart and have tried to get together without success but now meet hundreds of miles from where we live - pretty wonderful in my mind.

Then on Saturday as the event was winding down talking to one of the Festool executives (that I met for the first time on Friday) and finding out that we had met at the 2016 Connect event when I was talking to everyone in the reconditioned tool purchase line.  And at that time he didn't work for Festool.  But he loves his TS-55 even more now.

So many great people worked so hard to put this together and at the end of the day there were bigger smiles.

Thank you to all at Festool for the event.  My wife sent me away to get my smile back and  [thumbs up] [thumbs up] [thumbs up] [thumbs up].

And to Mr. C., thank you for the conversations and beliefs back in 2010.  Sorry you couldn't make it this year.  I sorted out your monogrammed shirts so I know you intended to be there.  And, Lebanon isn't boring when you have Festooligans around  [poke].  Your desire and forward thinking continues.

Peter

I have been quite busy since returning from Festool Connect and the meet-up on Friday night so my response has been delayed, but wanted to share some of my experiences and observations:

- the Meet-up on Friday night was a great time!  Had great discussions from FOG folks I met last year as well as others that just met this year.  I hesitate to mention names because I would forget some, but great to see [member=4105]tjbnwi[/member] again this year- Tom, Thanks again for all your finishing help over the last year.  Great to see FOG moderators Peter and Seth- appreciate all they do to keep things interesting on the forum!  Thanks especially to Tyler, Sedge, Aaron and Minnie and others from Festool for being there, and to [member=101]Festool USA[/member] for holding the event- much appreciated!

Festool Connect:
-Better weather this year!  I thought my wife was just going to drop me off and go shopping, but she stayed and actually bought her very own Festool during the recon sale (SysRock).  I picked up a CTL-Sys.  Recon sale was much more organized this year- very little wait in line.

- The social media panel started out a little un-interesting, but just before I was going to leave and look at tools, the subject changed to marketing for small businesses.  I picked up a few tips that I will use so glad I stayed.  Thanks to all the panel members and for Sedge serving as moderator.

-Cordless sanders are more balanced than I thought they would be and felt good in my hand.  Was glad to see they use the std charger.  I don't have an RTS-400 yet so might get the cordless version in the future.

-New inspection light seems like a better solution that using multiple Syslites to see scratches/defects in wood while sanding.  I pre-ordered one from my local dealer upon returning home and cannot wait to try it out.

- Tanos was in attendance this year showing several options to organize/use Systainers- great to see and Franck gave me some ideas for further organizing my shop.

- SawStop and Shaper Origin also in attendance- someday hope to go from my UniSaw to a SawStop model- if that doesn't happen, I'll have to plan on getting their overhead dust collection arm and keep the one I have.

- Festool team members were all very friendly and were good about answering questions- it's clear that they all get some detailed training on the tools no matter what department they work in.  Food was great and Swag included battery and charger.  Before going to Connect, I just purchased an Airstream battery and charger so really didn't need another one, but hey- it was free and very much appreciated (never can have too many batteries).

It was a long road trip (10-1/2 hours one-way) but was well worth the trip.  If they hold it again next year, would recommend you consider going.

Regards,
Gerald
